how was fiora selected? he
He was woeful in Casey's defeat yet our coach selected him in the starting line up. He, Gram and Dal never make any body contact with opposition players. Max, Goddard, Roo and Fisher will always make a contest. I would trade Dal for Kerr in a heartbeat.
Have a look at our worst players when we are soundly beaten. the same ones every time. Yes i know Roo did not have a great game against the Cats but for god's sake he never stops trying. With so many players who do not want to do the hard things we did well to finish fourth. As a supporter who has watched Harvey from his first game to now, thank you for so many wonderful memories and good luck for the future.

easy to go the scapegoat after a loss like that, so not pointing the finger at any individuals at the mo.
However, this loss aside, Fiora is a bloody waste of space on our list. Buggered if I know why he gets picked. Really confounds me.
This was probably his last chance. I thought after he kicked that goal he might shift into gear, maybe take the game by the scruff of its neck like you'd expect of a top (3?) draft pick. But he didn't do it, which is a great shame, because when he is on song he is a very good player with very smooth skills.

no Mart he wasn't the reason we lost. Like I said too many passengers to point the finger at one or two.BigMart wrote:Yes he was the reason we lost
F*** there are some idiots on here....it takes many poor efforts to lose like that, why single out one...
McQualter, Jones, Gwilt, Eddy, Gram, Dal, Gilbert, Montagna, Armitage and others were all as bad or worse.......
However, Fiora's game is just a continuation of his inability to have any influence in a contest.
Has done zero all year, not just tonight, to suggest to me that he deserves a spot on the list.

Fiora, i am so surprised in his change, i remember him in great form last year, taking absolute rippers and i think he was even 3rd on our goal-kicking list. His kicking skills are great at times and he has good speed as well.
Delist or keep?
tough one but i honestly think birss should have had a go at tagging hodge

HEY Mart i am not a f idiot as you suggest. The hard facts are we cannot win a flag carrying so called top players who continually are shown up when the going gets tough. Have a good look at Geelong next week and see what players for them stand back from contests. They all go in hard and often put in hard shepherds to help out a team mate. When do we ever put in a shepherd? Also our kicking skills are very poor.

Well summed up. There's about 6 to 8 that won't win us a flag, and have been showed up in finals... again. The Sainter wrote:HEY Mart i am not a f idiot as you suggest. The lid is off after Round 2! Enjoy the journey, coz you just don't know where we'll end up. Live for today and seize the moment.

agreed that the boys were outplayed all over the ground. Like I said, not pointing the finger at Fiora because of tonight.SAINT JUMP wrote:you guys a stupid. the boys where out played all over the ground you all like to blame the young guys.rl made to many changes in the second qrt.never let the team settle.
I thought before the game was played that he should be delisted and he did nothing tonight to suggest that he shouldn't be.

The selection of Fiora was just absolutely frightfull.
How on earth he could possibly get a game is just beyond me.
Seriously, it takes the cake for the worst selection stuff up for the year. Not just for us, but for the whole comp.
I knew we were gone the minute I saw him....looking frightened in the warm up.
Far out. I persisted in defending this guy..over and over. 2007 saw some improvement...2008 has been terrible for him.
Terrible, terrible selection.
How he got a game ahead of Birss is beyond me.
So long Fizz...You are my scapegoat and I dont give a flying F*** what anyone thinks. While we have players of this calibre on the list actually getting SENIOR games, we are going nowhere.
So long.

Why did he play then.....and Birss did not????
Coach must think otherwise....
I believe he should be delisted, yes....but to single him out (coming off the bench with a dozen touches and a goal in a humiliating loss where our 'A-Graders' were flogged is silly......and thoughtless....he was the 22nd most important player in the side last night...
IMO - he WILL be delisted, but I hope he isn't to see you blame him for every error at the the club next year....it may be Fiora's fault that the budget blew out at Frankston oval.....
and to those calling him hopeless.....he isn't the player he was hoped to be....but he played 140 league games.....that in itself is an achievement many would dream of.....
