Brown has been named forward i think, however they may have to resort to him going back if roo and kosi fire. Brownless suggested Murphy on Kos on the Footy Show last night. If this happens, we MUST exploit this match-up as Murphy is nothing more than a very average footballer.

Apart from Hodge, their backline is mediocre.

No worries. He doesn't have a huge body of work in the backline to be fair but when he has done it, he has done a fair job. You would only consider it on the big forwards and resting ruckman (don't think he could match up on Riewoldt or anything like that). The other issue is he is more then handy in the ruck. No Dean Cox but he holds his own.

Hawthorn do not play with a traditional defence, they roll 8-10 players around the ball at all times.

So no player is ever isolated on an opponent - all they have to do is make a contest then use their numbers to roll the pack forward.

Like Geelong, they only release the ball from the packs when they want, and have someone who has escaped scrutiny - and at other times grab the tacklers arms to ensure the appearance of the ball being held in whilst gaining yards (with the tackler hanging on or being hung onto) rugby league style.

Remember their only victory over us in recent times?

Only Raymond was left for Casey but Hawthorn played this "rolling flood" which actually kept a very under manned St Kilda in the game.

It could be a similarly ugly game tomorrow night.

The player who has had most influence against Hawthorn over the recent past has been Gehrig because his body size loved the way Hawthorn play.

He was quite happy for the rolling flood to come into his territory so he could push and shove and stick his big chest out - except that game we lost we could not get the ball inside 50 to exploit them.
