This is starting to look promising, unlike a couple of days ago when I found that a regular poster on here would prefer to go out to dinner with his Mother-InLaw than come to the footy with us on Saturday Night     !!

don't say that too loud... that beer or 2 might turn into 3 or 4 or even half a dozen!

00.01 Start to get restless in bed
00.02 Cold sweat starts
00.03 Yoga techniques swing into action - fail miserably
04.56 Half an hour sleeping pattern now accepted as normal
06.49 Start listening for car delivering newspaper
06.50 Curse everyone else using the road at this hour of the morning
07.43 Rise, incompletely rested, stumble out to retrieve the morning paper, unfortunately only the classified section is immediately apparent. Loud cursing heard in neighborhood. Fortunately, other section appears in hydrangeas.
08.59 Media scoured, ablutions completed and nerves calmed with 3 kilos of valium, set off for morning shopping spree.
09.10 Spree completed
09.19 Nine hours of ever escalating nervous tension begins.
18.27 trek to local train station begins.
18.36 Arrive at station - display board predicts that train is delayed three hours. Panic ensues.
18.40 Train arrives just two minutes late - electronic technical hitch blamed for error message on display - Collingwood controller suspected.
18.50 Arrive at Richmond station
18.52 Note usual suspects outside station - Trombone and Sax Saint men, classical gas guitar man who can play with no hands and lady still homeless.
18.57 Gain access to stadium
18.59 Arrive at seat, with question to somewhat surprised next door neighbour "Have I missed anything?"
17.00 Game starts.

Right-o loud mouth..now that Ive been "outed"

No..I wont be at the game Saturday Night. Some months ago I committed to a family function of some magnitude (yes in-laws 70th Birthday) on that night. Much as I was extremely pyssed off that the dates clashed, I decided to honour the committment I made all that time ago. Sometimes you have to do this stuff.

Anyone want to question my committment to the St Kilda Football Club? I'll see you behind the nearest shelter-shed

I should point out that I shall have a radio in my pocket and a TV nearby

Eastern, for that liltle crack you shall pay. When we gather for our pre-GF drink prior to watching our Mighty Saints take part in the big game, we shall not be at the Cricketers Arms, where the beer is cheap. I shall be reseraching the CBD's costliest waterholes, where all shall meet with wallets left firmly in pockets..except yours!!!

Brilliant. The last one especially.

I friggin' love that walk from Richmond to the ground.

Unfortunately I made the mistake last time of getting off at Flinders St, getting some lunch and then a tram to Jolimont. Foolish.

I should have known. Jolimont - by tram or train - is my unlucky stop. I can't think of a time I have gotten off there and we've won.

Case in point? The family bumbling around at Flinders St in 1997 and blowing the routine and ending up at Jolimont.

:x

Hey guys. Are heading up the highway early Saturday with the girls straight to the MCG carpark and then will settle into the occassion with a few calming beers and a bite to eat at Fav MCG pub the Mountain View in Bridge road[Barassi's old pub] around 5 pm.Tables and chairs and family friendly. Will try and get to the cricketers arms on the way back to the ground.Really love the early build up to finals games at the G .You can smell the excitement in the streets of Richmond and my early feelings about the game are vaguely spooky

Hope to cross paths with some of you ,somehow, somewhere

Yep..good feed the Mountain View..but be warned...when it gets as crowded as it will be on Saturday, the meals can take aaages to come out. Had to abandon my parma half-eaten and dash back to the G prior to a final last year cos they took 45 mins to serve it.

Another reccomendation? After looking down on it 4 billion times over the years as Ive gone past on the train, I finally checked out the rooftop beer garden at the Corner Hotel before the Pies game

Seriously nice but fairly priced pub grub ($18 Parma) The classics with a few upmarket items put in too. Loads of room, a really cool footy/inner city vibe (there'd been an all-ages punk gig in the band room downstairs earlier) and bar staff who, unlike Livewire, know how to serve drinks QUICKLY when its crowded...all this a 5 min walk from the G

Definately well worth checking out. Ill be going back in the summer

Well !!

I didn't mention anyone by name

But if you are so overwhelmed by guilt that you feel the need to give yourself up then so be it

The only real way to cleanze yourself of all this guilt is to turn up on Grand Final day with a full wallet to be emptied buying drinks for anyone remotely connected to SAINTSATIONAL  8-)  !!

ahhh yes...we wondered if that had been re-opened??

Its the site of the old Depot in Swan St..the pub/nightclub that got so far up itself at one point that they refused entry to the hubby of my boss at the time..because he had a beard

Wake up wishing i hadn't after the end of term celebrations.

Do SFA, maybe watch a bit of Top Gear and crank some choice tunes

Open wallet, realise i am completely broke and greatful that my old folks paid for the tickets. I will still, however, be sober leading into the match.

Catch the train from Caulfield with a billion other supporters.

Watch match.

Either celebrate the win or Harvey's career.

Boneless mate our itineraries are very very similar.
I'm on the Tiger from Canberra at 1355 and boarding a return flight at around 0715 Sunday morning.

Should we win tomorrow night, it's highly likely that no flight attendant in their right mind will let me anyway near the boarding area at 7 the next morning.

I'm meeting a few mates for some beers at an undecided location before the game but theyre hawks fans so wont likely be socialising post game. I'll find some randoms in red white and black to either commiserate with or party long and hard into the night.
