They obviously promoted the open training, with the bbq and autograph session.

Probably thought it would be good for all the supporters (and the waiting media) to keep seeing us in our traditional colours.

I liked the touch, personally.

I think we should be training the way we want to play... make training as close to match conditions as possible.

There was to be a planned autograph session, but the rain put an end to it...

Oh, you're not implying they are soft are you?

I personally wouldn't risk any injuries or viruses by training in the rain, to ensure we have a fit and healthy 22 sainters out there come Saturday night...

Look at Cloke and Cooney, no point putting the players at risk

owhenthesaints, are you saying that playing in the rain makes you crook?

How did the game survive 150 years?

I'm not implying they are soft, but the session was advertised on the official Saints.com.au site as an opportunity to get photos and autographs.

False advertising?

no way would I have wanted the guys to hang around attempting to sign- what good are blurred images and signatures- in wet clothes to catch cold- Golly Dal's just gotten over severe tonsiltitis
they may play in the rain- but go straight into warm / hot showers not hanging around in wet clothes

No, the rain could increase risk of injury.....who know if the wet didn't contribute to Chance Bateman rolling his ankle at training....it's just not worth the risk.

The game may of survived 150 years, but who am I to tempt fate? I am sure if you ask nicely, the player who's autograph you were specifically after, will acommodate given the circumstances?

Warm hot showers were not available to visiting teams at Moorabbin in the '70s and '80s.

You do not catch a cold from being wet. However, being a virus, you do catch a cold from other people.

I understand if you are disappointed after making the journey, to find that the chance to interact with the players was cancelled. There was no malice in the players leaving the track early, it's just a result of circumstances....

As for the argument about players in the 60/70's not having hot showers, and they survived. I am sure they wouldn't begrudge the players these days their "mod cons" would they?

Sorry, ohwhenthesaints, just having a lend of you.

I'm at training every week, but I do know quite a few who did make a big effort to get there and were disappointed.

No problem, next week will be bigger than Texas.

Not sure about the comments about no signatures being available..

Evidently those that waited outside the rooms for the full training including indoor training to finish were rewarded with signatures etc. (however the non-regulars not familiar with training may not have known to do this).

However I agree that many probably thought that training finished with the field session (which it did not)...and that in hindsight with the Club having really promoted the signature part...that a few players perhaps should have been delagted to sign some autographs.

With no Casey game this weekend.....listed players and rookies who would definitely not be playing on Saturday could surely have been delegated to do some autographs for 15 minutes or so..
