Well someone said in another thread that Hawthorn are the 16th ranked team for contested ball, if this is the case the rain would probably help us out.
I don't think either team's forward line will be helped out...

Since when can we acurately predict what the weather will be like on an evening 4 or 5 days from now?nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
please be a dry day please
Just as likely to be dry...Even if it there are a few showers (which isn't a full on wet day), it will be just as detrimental, if not more, to the hawks.

I was there for that also. Our boys didn't even get to run through the banner it was blowing so hard! I had the best night that night!!!!Finna wrote:I never forget the Semi in 2004 at the G against the Swans. Absolutely bucketed down and everyone wrote us off because they said our players wouldn't be suited to the rain.
We smashed them!

I was at the SCG the night we beat the swans by 2pts a few years ago. Rain was absolutely torrential for the whole match. You had to be right on the fence to actually be able to see the players clearly. Quite a few of the goals were soccered off the ground from memory.
Was still one of the best nights of my life as it was such an unlikely, yet crucial win at the time. Funnily enough my best memory of the night came well after the game when i was back at the hotel viewing some footage, and they showed Bally (who had been poleaxed in a collision with Goose and missed the last qtr) hobbling down the tunnel post-match where GT met him halfway and Bally jumped into his arms and they shared a huge embrace. It was a pretty emotional moment in recognition of the significance of the win. Does anyone else remember seeing footage of this? I wish i had it on tape...

Yep remember that game well..the one and only time ive watched a winning game at the Social Club. Rixy kicking a goal with his first kick for us..after all the hoop-la on here about his inclusion... was hilarious. Roo took a "Roo-special" to save us at the death. Place went off when the siren went

cheers saint66 - don't go to too much trouble, but if you do happen to have it, it is a moment I wouldn't mind having stored away with the highlights.saint66au wrote: Someone posted that footage here..I may still hage it tucked away on my hard drive..i'll let you know

Dry ?saintsRrising wrote:It rained during the Cat's game.Saint Bev wrote:Rained during the game last week and didn't seem to make a difference.
Pies game was dry.
Mostly dry your honour.
But there were some wet moments.
Or perhaps those Collingwood infidels were spitting on me then ?

as for this week . . . rain or dry . . . . doesn't matter i would think.
both have tall forwards.
and i dont think we can get into a shootout with them and just try and outscore them.
if our backline can hold firm and the mid's pressure and get back to help out. . . . we are a chance.
we dont want a shootout or we are toast.
reckon a close defensive game.
whoever wins will win by 2 or 3 goals.
