Umpire Head retires!
I was just looking up the umps for tonight ( Kennedy, Rosebury and McLaren) and noticed that our mate "Dick" has put the whistle away. Perhaps he can write a book a la like Costello - " How we won in Freo!" He could sell it amongst the crowd and invite responses, "Peanut, shilling a bag!"

corrupt cheat who should never have been given a game after he admitted he cheated the Saints in 2005.
In any other sport he would have been kicked out - but the AFL had it in for Thomas and the small minded umpires thought they had carte blanche.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.
Absolute Dog.

Lance or James??
There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

It is wrong to label umpires as "corrupt". What does happen, for some, is that circumstances can get the better of them and their decision making will suffer.
Fitness, concentration and good position are key ingredients to good umpiring. Not easy to get for a 24-30 man panel. But the most important thing is something that is difficult to train for - good decision making. First the eye has to get it right then judgement has to be called upon. The very best umpires have the knack of knowing that fine line between blowing the whistle and calling play on. Easier said than done, especially when you are looking for consistency amongst three.
Umpire Head made a bad mistake a few years ago, one which he could not admit to without leaving the game, and something that the AFL could not afford him to admit to either. He never seemed to enjoy the game at all, even less so after that event.
I might question three or four decisions a game, never call out "ball" and I am far more critical of player mistakes than those from umpires, but I guess that's obvious from my posts.

Sorry Perfectionist, but honest umpires who make an honest mistakes ARE honest umpires.
But any umpire who deliberately makes dishonest decisions to affect the outcome of a game IS A CORRUPT UMPIRE. To do so just to GET a coach who has previously criticised bad umpiring decisoins is despicably dishonest.
Any sporting body that stands behind a corrupt umpire is a CORRUPT sporting body. AFL is an abbreviation for corruption.
Grant Thomas wiil go where saints belong and Head can go rot in hell.
