Gilbert and Raph

Post: # 643038Post jackal »

My mate Gilbert who is often bagged on this forum was supurb today and along with Raph took a number of important marks. This guy is a serious player and if he learns how to kick on his right foot will be awesome.
Well done to all our defenders today, made me proud to wear my SAints colours around Perth today!!!

Gilbert was senational. A lot of his 12 marks were contested.

Thought he was lucky to be getting a game most of the year.

Our whole bottom tier stepped up. Gwilt was good also, and eddy and mini were solid, without being spectacular. Top team effort.

Jones, Eddy and Armitage (Allen excluded because of his injury) were the only ones that really didn't do much... which is to be expected, they are all development sort of players.

I'll be happy if he learns to kick on his left foot :D

Tonight was his best game for the club, no doubt.

I would like to apologise to Raph Clarke and his supporters for doubting him last week and calling for his sacking

Ive always thought he was as clumsy as f*** but today hes shown to be brave and fearless

Well done

Both guys were sensational. I am not a Raph fan at all but the courage he showed tonight was awesome. Believed in himself and it showed...

They were both awesome. Raph has become the player we knew he could become once he got it right between the ears. How self assured did he look running from the backline? Is this the player that always seemed to be a rabbit in headlights.
Gilbert made me proud today. In twelve months time he'd be a match for Buddy no doubts about it.
The other kids did good as well. Eddy in particular won some contested footy late in the game that was very impressive.

But Raph .....wow.
Am I getting ahead of myself in saying he has overtaken his brother?

Exactly Noodles. The lesser lights were great and really contributed to maintaining pressure across the park. Collingwood weren't permitted to get clean pinpoint delivery into the 50. Raph, Gilbert, Blake, BJ were all excellent.
Heard Blake interviewed on the radio after the game and he complimented the mid-field pressure, saying that pressure really made the defence's job easier. Bloody great team effort. No passengers.

Raph's best game for the club.

I was tearing my hair out with Gilbert in the first term, but he was much better after that.

How can you say Jones didn't do much??? His tagging/negating role on Neon Leon was sensational, coach couldn't have asked for better. Harrassed him from the go get and made Davis think that he could get tackled whenever he went near it. And often he did get tackled when he went near it. Great game CJ!!

Both were sensational tonight.

Gilbert with his courage, reading of the play, and ability to be the 3rd man up or the loose man.

Raph, with his pace, vision and disposal - fantastic.

Bring on Hawthorn...

As much as I want Ralph there can't go past Roo, What stood out with Ralph was his run and carry when it was tight in the first quater.

Raph chopped a lot Filth attacks out, esp in the first half. Bloody excellent game from him. Really stood up and showed he's getting some maturity about him. Gilbert was great. Don't know how many marks he took, but there were plenty. Looked assured and solid.

the back six- bj, fisher, max, blake, gilbo and raph are a class act and the latter 3 have all taken MASSIVE strides forward. Well done.

Bring on Buddy, Roughead and Williams.

Gwilt was brilliant tonight, as was Raph and Gilbs! So pleased with how they've knuckled down and made some incredible in-roads!

And how handy has Blake suddenly become!!?? Bloody fantastic!

All of a sudden our V8 is firing on all cylinders! :D

Raph, Gibert and the other ol' whipping horse James Gwilt also played well. Gave Max & Sam Fisher lots of back-up

the backline's starting to look as though it's got some genuine depth. Just bloody delighted that there are some real options apart from Max and Chips.

Raph and Gilbert both played the best games of their careers I'd say, and Jason Blake's would be close to.

Our defense won us the game tonight, and of the 3 above, I'm not sure who to give most props to.
