Shane Wakelin
As he played 94 games in 7 years, its fitting that Shane will play his last AFL this saturday night against the club he began with.
Congrats on a great career and enjoy retirement!

When people can't seperate football from real life, that's when you have stalkers, Joffa clones, people who king-hit players in night clubs, etc.Saints Premiers 2008 wrote:haven't spoken to him, don't like him...he is an opposition player therefore an enemy...i might respect him but i don't like himjohnpeterbudgefanclub wrote:Lovely.....Saints Premiers 2008 wrote:feral

I seem to remember footage of him in the crowd at the '04 GF after SA version of the filth won. He was bawling his eyes out.
Perhaps Happy for his brother, Darryl, who played in the winning team. But I also suspect tears of frustration that it wasn't him and he'd already played in 3 losing GF teams. D'oh!

He was at the front of the line up and him and harvs embraced as he walked off...he didn't get carried off, but it is a given that he's retired.golden hawk wrote:i heard his name mentioned while i was on the computer [ no where near tv but dad was watching tv] did not quite catch it but i read today he organised the line up for you guys is that right ? did he get chaired off ? or have i got that mixed up ?

Wakelin has had nothing but bitterness towards the St.Kilda FC ever since he was delisted. Good ridance as far as I am concerned. His brother was twice the player he was. If he had concentrated on his footy as much as his 'after hours' activities when he was at the Saints, he MIGHT have been half successful.
