M.Gardiner must come in – Kosi to Full Forward
M. Gardiner must come in this week which will free up Kosi to play Full Forward. At the moment it seems the boys just keeping looking for rooy. Kosi can stay at Full Forward where he is unbeatable one on one and rooy the leading centre half forward and Schneider and milney the two small forwards crumbing off Kosi. And we also need a third leading forward to help Kosi and rooy, I don’t know who that third forward will be because I believe Charlie Gardiner should be dropped because he cannot play at the top level. So maybe Gwilt can play in the position.

koz in the square and roo between him and the 50 metre line.
then the gap is plugged and cant be filled by a pie.
roo leads out to roughly the CHF posie and opens the hole for koz.
BJ slots it in the hole from the guts and hey presto, shots on goal to the koz man, (with the two pocket rockets at his feet if he drops the cherry)
wonder if they need another assistant at the club

mate i think its better having 2 big forwards than just riewoldt getting triple teamed up there, than the ball comes flying outrodgerfox wrote:Can someone please name one game where Kosi has played very well from FF?
Just one.
And not a half like that game 18 months ago in Perth. A full game.
Just one game where he's played well and kicked a bag from FF.
at one stage sunday kosi was rucking and riewoldt was on a wing
2 key fowards and 2 rotating ruckman

kosi's best position is ruck/forward and ross has admitted as much.rodgerfox wrote:Can someone please name one game where Kosi has played very well from FF?

we'd be better off
1) putting bj at ff and try to cover him on the ball.
2) bringing back gehrig for a final hurrah
or
3) giving allen another run (a lot to ask of a four-gamer)

Only 1 team in the past 15 years has had any success using tweo big, key forwards.sainters man wrote:mate i think its better having 2 big forwards than just riewoldt getting triple teamed up there, than the ball comes flying outrodgerfox wrote:Can someone please name one game where Kosi has played very well from FF?

That was Brisbane.
And they also happened to have the best midfield ever assembled pumping it in there.
It's an outdated tactic that is just too easy to counter.
Contested marks in the F50 aren't worth trying to get. If you do get a couple, then it's bonus. But don't base your forward structure around it.
They're too easy to prevent for the opposition.
Another point aswell to the Roo/Kosi forward line - is that both are probably the worst kicks for goal at he club.

I'd easily go for the 3rd option.bigcarl wrote:kosi's best position is ruck/forward and ross has admitted as much.rodgerfox wrote:Can someone please name one game where Kosi has played very well from FF?

You basically want 6 blokes in the forward line that play as on-ballers in that part of the ground.
In a perfect world, we'd be able to build a forward line around a freak forward - but right now we can't.
We need to be creative with our setup.
We also can't afford to put our best mids down there either.

would be good to see some sort of talent allocated to the forward line apart from roo, milne and schneider.rodgerfox wrote:Dal should be there, cause clearly he isn't one of our best mids at present.bigcarl wrote:dal santo?rodgerfox wrote:We also can't afford to put our best mids down there either.
couldn't see either gwilt or charlie getting a game in our backline ... which gives some sort of an indication of where the coach's priorities are.
it used to be that you'd send the less talented, "more determined" players to defence.
now anyone with any talent is immediately given a defensive, negative role. but i'll leave this topic alone until we're out of the hunt.

kosi should give presti a bath....
roo should give little nat brown a bath...
the only man we have to watch out for is big...wait for it...tough guy...number 5 nicky maxwell
seriously regardless of how well obrien plays on smaller player both roo and kosi should kick the bag together that they for some reason never have
time is now boys

Re: M.Gardiner must come in – Kosi to Full Forward
Not sure if you saw last weeks game or many games this year but Kosi has probably played at FF for 60% of the season and has played well in probably 20% of those games. Having him there for the whole game would make him a waste of space. He isnt and never will a FF. Another thing have you noticed Rooey last 10 games. He has been nearly the best player in the AFL in that time and has played between FF and CHF for most of the time.azza12 wrote:M. From games I've watched this year Kosi actually looks better floating into defence. He's taken some great contested marks in the back half this year not so many forward. I think he reads the play better this way. Also can then be used as a link man going forward. For what ever reason Roo and Kosi just don't gel well in the forward line. They just seem to get in each others way. Buddy and Roughnut seem to have an awareness about each other at all times which is why they work well together. We need to think about another forward option for the future.

To me Kosi needs a run at the contest NOT a wrestle and he can do this best floating back (and possibly fwd) its why hes probably a genuine utility....but not exactly enamored with the tank to play this roaming role.....
I had Kosi down as a fwd and am dissapointed this just hasnt worked......though Im not sure he is surrounded by the best fwd coach getting round to be frank cause our fwd line has been poor all year.

kosi and roo need to watch hours of brown and bradshaw tapes and have some form of gameplan. To many times do we see both go up for a mark against each other and there opponents while the ball spills to the ground. Milne is normally on a leading mission of his own and the backline gets the ball out easily.
Both should take turns or in the best postion, TALK to each other in a contest and Milne should never be a leading forward unless there is no other option. He should be leading into the pack were the ball is going to be kicked and take the crumbs.
