The second biggest day in the history of the StKFC
This is the eve of this game I believe.
The first is obvious (1966) but if we win tomorrow we play either North,Swans or Bulldogs. Then if we win a GF and a decent shot at the flag.
We also have a week off.
Lose tomorrow and we'd need to beat Collingwood,Hawthorn and Geelong for the flag in all likely hood.
Tomorrow is VERY VERY important.
I'm a realist and believe we aren't the best side at the moment.
Maybe not even second.
I'm going to these finals to enjoy the Saints playing in finals.
Enjoy watching Harves play his last games.
Let's enjoy it and not get too emotional if we don't get to the pinnacle.
However
GO SAINTS !!!!!!

True. Beat the cats and we're in the right side of the draw....Winner of Roos/Swans and a failing Western Bulldogs team. Would still need to win our way through to the GF but would be easier than the other half of the draw ...Cats, Hawks, Pies.
Would also silence a few media numbskulls who think a Cats/ Hawks Grand Final is a foregone conclusion.

What i meant was that if we win tomorrow we will be on the right side of the draw for probably the best crack at the flag we've had.
Plus Geelong could play Hawthorn on that side in a prelim. One has gotta go.
Plus we will have beaten the absolute hot favourites for the flag.
Plus we would go into next year with a huge amount of momentum.
Plus it would show our Club has the fortitude to give everything for a favourite son. We would gain some respect.
I think this game is massive.

He just so badly wants to win a GF and sees a win tomorrow so important in that outcome....
JUST LIKE ALL OF US
Will have to be a huge upset tomorrow for us to advance straight through to prelim......
Geelong is a fantastic side

It's looked that way so far, but I would have to say that their worst scenario would be to play us in their first game with the promise of a game against Collingwood in their second if they lose the first!chook23 wrote:...Geelong is a fantastic side
Some teams just stack up better against others regardless of ladder position.

I thought I said I was a realist ?
I understand we are rank underdogs.
This, and the repercussions thereafter if we win means it is a huge game for our club.
I also understand the fact I think all of this has absolutely no bearing on the result.
As I said in my OP I'm going to enjoy the day and just hopefully witness the footballing public find new respect for us.
Has there been many bigger Goliaths we have conquered in finals ?
Adelaide in 2005 was a biggy.

A Saints win tomorrow forces Geelong and Hawthorn into a prelim final showdown. (If the Cats win next week)
It'd certainly make our run to the G.F a little easier; and if those two towel eachother up in the prelim; the Premiership Cup may be coming to Moorabbin.
As the eternal optimist I see tomorrow's game as the best chance we've had since '97.
The stars seem to be aligning at the right time for The Saints.
In other news.....
North Mackay Saints Seniors and Reserves both won their respective Grand Finals today I'm just heading up to the club to celebrate.

My kids asked me through the week what I wanted for Father's Day.
I told them nothing that they could buy.
It took them a little while to work to work it out.
After growing up in and living near the heart of Catland all my life as a Saints supporter I so badly want us to beat this 2007/2008 monolith.
Let's hope there are 40 000 happy red, white and black Dads there at 5pm tomorrow
