From memory it would have been the first Melbourne one in 04. That was Sydney at the G I think. Also went to Adelaide for the game that followed. Don't mention it...

Mate if they don't let me thru then there's no shout for u so fingers crossed hey bud
I'll have my contacts at Customs check if the contents of your wallet are sufficient to perform that very important task, otherwise it's straight back to VanDiemans land for you   !!

First final I went to was in '66, second-semi v Collingwood. We lost by 10 points. I thought it was the end of the world. The only tickets my Dad could get were sitting with the PIES fans....he told me to keep my mouth shut, but I screamed 'Carn the Saints' all the way through. Was just short of my tenth birthday. We were in the Southern Stand down in the Punt Road end. Upstairs.

The Pies fans we sat with were quite elderly and quite nice. Different era I suppose.

Anyway we won v Essendon next week and we sat with the North ticket holders about halfway around on the wing up in the Southern Stand, and then the GF in the Northern Stand. All burnt on my memory.

My first final was the 1992 elimination final against the Pies. What a glorious day!

I was there the week after against the Dogs.

'97 Qualifying Final against Brisbane

'04 Semi Final against Sydney

'05 Preliminary Final against Sydney

Non-St.Kilda finals include:

Essendon vs Carlton: 2000 Preliminary Final
Carlton vs Adelaide: 2001 Qualifying Final
Melbourne vs Kangaroos: 2002 Qualifying Final
Melbourne vs Adelaide: 2002 Semi Final
Collingwood vs Adelaide: 2002 Preliminary Final
Hawthorn vs Adelaide: 2007 Qualifying Final
Hawthorn vs Kangaroos: 2007 Semi Final

I've just realised I've been to more finals not involving the Saints then finals that were.

No good.

The Phoenix Suns and St.Kilda Saints should have at least 5 championships between them since their sudden surge to elite status in 2004.

Actual championships: 0

The first final l attended was the one against the Dogs at waverley in '92. We had beaten Collingwood in a brilliant performance in the Elimination final the week before & put in a shocker against the Dogs. The only highlight was Pluggers screamer at the big V scoreboard end.

1991 for me.

Wrapped Dad's big Saints golf umbrella around a pole outside Waverley after the game. I thought he'd brain me but I think he was proud of my passion for his club!
