The Cats and the long break.

Post: # 634084Post Leo.J »

The Cats have only found themselves behind at half-time 3 times this year.

Rd.6 V Freo they were 2 points down and won by 1 point.

Rd.8 V Rich they were a goal down and went on to win by 30 points.

Rd.9 V Pies they were 51 points down and lost by 86 points.

They were level once but the scoreboard didn't tell the true tale.

Rd.16 V Dogs they were level and won by 61 points, mind you they had kicked 6.11 to 7.5 at HT

I found this one interesting also as the Hawks beat the Cats in the last half by a goal

Rd.17 V Hawks the Cats were up at HT by 17 but they only went onto win by 11 points. The Hawks had come off 2 six day breaks also.

Since then they have played

Richmond
Melbourne
Sydney
Kangaroos
West Coast

These teams are hardly the form sides of the comp. They haven't had a work out for about 6 weeks.

The Cats have not been behind at the long break for 13 rounds, we need to take them out of their comfort zone.

And as another thread mentions we are good after HT.

So if we can stay with them or be in front at half time IMO it is GAME ON.

GO SAINTERS

Interesting stuff.....

Still can't believe Freo almost knocked them off.....

Just think about it, 2 more points Freo's way and many would be looking at this Geelong side a whole lot differently.

They are beatable, of that i'm sure.

Don't worry about half time, the game will be won or lost in the first ten minutes.

If we kick straight and eliminate dumb errors down back (ie dropping sitters, silly frees), then we can win. A bit of scoreboard pressure combined with our tackling pressure will see the pussies start to reassess their arrogance.

It's not suprising that pussies are arrogant, they always have some bloke chasing them.

Our tackling has improved significantly in recent times!

As "prefectionist" said "If we kick straight and eliminate dumb errors down back (ie dropping sitters, silly frees), then we can win."

When they created LENNY HAYES (in the shadow of Harvs) they forgot to break the mold (again)- hence the Supremely Incredible Jack Steven!!

And if we do that we should be there abouts or in front at HT, and if we can maintain that like we have in the 2nd half for the past 10 or so weeks we'll be in the hunt well and truly.

For us to beat them we have to beat them at their own game, we have to pressure them for the whole 100 minutes.
