The Geelong V St Kilda RIVALRY THREAD
Here's a video link first up to get the ball rolling...
That of course followed by the Wizard Cup Final in 2004; Powell cleaning up Ling; Chapman and Bombers comments (what DID Chappy say, can anyone recall?); both teams making Prelims two years running, but falling; in 2006 St Kilda officially ending Geelongs finals chances late in the year at the MCG, in this game Baker doing a number on an injured Ablett; and of course, 2007.
Now we are looking at the next chapter in this rivalry.
Both teams have lost players (us more so I'd think) but retained a core group.
Strangely, we never actually played Geelong in a 'real' final all this time.
This Sunday - RIVALRY UPDATED.
Post any thoughts, facts or memories on this.
And - will it be a factor in this Sunday's game??

And they've only lost 1 game this year In all honesty, we're hardly in the same class as them.saintly wrote:they did win the premiership last year.
If we're going to make a stand, this Sunday will be the start of it!
When they created LENNY HAYES (in the shadow of Harvs) they forgot to break the mold (again)- hence the Supremely Incredible Jack Steven!!

IMHO the Cats are as beatable as they ever will be this week.
Think about it there is not one person (outside the club obviously) that thinks we have a snowballs chance in hell of winning this game which means NO PRESSURE on us and all the pressure on Geelong.
So c'mon Saints lets roll these pussies

if everyone rights u off before the game,...u have nothing to lose when that ball is bounced.
footy can be a strange game.
look at round 22!
maybe someone upstairs is moving things around a wee bit to give someone a sending off that he truely does deserve more than prob anyone in the league.
anything can happen......and will

It was actually Guerra who cleaned up old fanta at the first bounce.
Will always remember you could hear some cats player standind too close to the maggots mic and you could hear ..."Yeah, you got what you f***ing wanted" of course he was refering to our 'cheap shot tactics'
The thing i hate about them the most is the fact you can't hate the side Geelong only the wankers that make these sh1zen house videos.
Sure they won the premiership, but i don't know about us treading water ... according to most sane people that generally meens you not getting anywhere ... HELLO !!
2 prelim finals and a elimination final as opposed to 2003 what'd we get then ???? ZIP! NADA! ZILTCH! .... NOTHING!
WE HAVE MOVED FOWARD AND WE WILL WIN ON SUNDAY !!!

I think you will find that the voice belonged to Stephen Powell standing over a groggy Ling.
"You deserved that you Red Headed ****".
"...If there has been one recurring theme through this whole shocking mess, it has been the misguided, inflated egos and their ill-judged determination to cling to long-standing old boy friendships. The bad advice that has guided the selfish and culpable James Hird has not only punctuated this saga but symbolised it..."
kidding arnt you..... i recon its great.... hope its repeated again on sunday...StSteven wrote:Not a proud moment in the history of the St Kilda FC!I think you will find that the voice belonged to Stephen Powell standing over a groggy Ling.

lets see Jimmy G run off the line and use that strong butt of his to good effect...

their coach----- has added his own history lesson of the Rivalry,
http://sportal.com.au/afl-news-display/ ... ints-56041
Geelong coach Mark Thompson has taken a subtle swipe at the Cats' qualifying final opponents this week in St Kilda saying that unlike his club, the Saints had been forced to rely on cast-offs from other clubs to achieve success.
The two teams have long been compared to each other and indeed have built up a healthy rivalry since bursting from the wilderness at the same time in 2004 - when they narrowly missed playing off in the grand final after narrow preliminary final defeats.
But while the pair clashed in the 2004 pre-season grand final - which was won by the Saints
