Chipping with 5 to go COULD now cost us 4th
So now here we are 11.00 pm Saturday and the positions are set for the final 8 with only us to go.
The debate the last few weeks has been shutting down early when we've had momentum with plenty of time left (a good 5 minutes) forfeiting percentage to save ourselves and risk of injuries.
So if we win tomorrow guess what separates us and 4th spot ? That 10 or 15 minutes over those 2 or 3 games realistically could have been 4 or 5 goals.
Not to mention one of those games was against Adelaide which would also have affected their percentage.

If we had of beaten West Coast we wouldn't have beaten Freo, just the way we are...
Why can't we beat the Bombers by 100 tomorrow, we are at full strength fighting for 4th, they have 24 players to choose from and nothing to play for...
We should dominate the ruck, the clearances and they have no one to play on Roo.
We should win by 10 goals, just a question on whether we have the game to find the extra 6....

At the end of the day you can only go by what you have control over.OneEyedSainter77 wrote:Nope, sorry. Storm in a teacup. You can't balme our chipping around on that. We could've got maybe two more goals I reckon. Wouldn't have made much difference.
What stops us from getting top four is not beating West Coast and/or Collingwood. VERY disapppointing performances IMO.
They weren't able to win those games for what ever reason the same as all the other teams had relative losses that they are also blaming for missing out .
But we chose to put on the brakes and stop scoring with plenty of time left not just 1 or 2 minutes and to still say that your happy to have done that even if we just fall short on percentage confuses me.

Nah I blame the second round draft pick we gave away 5 years ago for costing us a top 4 finish.
Mind you the cabbage of a goal umpire at AAMI stadium didn't help when he singlehandedly gave Adelaide the first goal in the last quarter and momentum, what a numbnut, should be sacked immediately.

Percentage at the end of the year is worth an extra point - the conservative approach has cost us that point. All other conjecture (ooh what if there's an injury... maybe the other team suddenly kicks 5 goals in 5 mins... perhaps we'll have more energy and it'll get us a win next week...) is just pie in the sky.
Yes a loss costs 4 points, but we've thrown an extra point down the drain by not going hard to finish teams off!

I agree with Barks, where do the "What ifs" and "Hindsight Nostradamus'" start or stop? Draft picks, trades, interchange moves, shots at goal, turnovers, missed tackles, injuries, suspensions...the list is endless.barks4eva wrote:Nah I blame the second round draft pick we gave away 5 years ago for costing us a top 4 finish.

Bottom line, the season is unfolding as it should. We still have control over our destiny, certainly more so than others. Personally I'm happy to be playing finals and hoping we do not lose another game for the year

Chipping around with 5 to go COULD cost us 4th
Personally I blame it all on me leaving me "lucky bucket hat" on the plane to Adelaide in 2004..the mojo went then

Why?saintsRrising wrote:How about that we will most likely finish 4th or 5th.....
Given the endless Sack Lyon this year how about a little credit for RL and his gameplan now???
If not for RL and his gameplan we would have been 2nd or 3rd, given the weak state of the comp other than Geelong...
So why would that draw praise.
If we make the GF then that's another story...

Do we play with fear of conceding or play with the belief in scoring?Bernard Shakey wrote:What if the Crows had kicked one or two goals in those last five minutes?
To my knowledge just ONE team has won a flag playing defensively...ONE!
Also of interest is how many premiers had a low % - any at all?

Try a hat every week until you find a new lucky one, perhaps. And I'll buy shares in hats.thejiggingsaint wrote:Personally I blame it all on me leaving me "lucky bucket hat" on the plane to Adelaide in 2004..the mojo went then
