casey Budget win

Post: # 566056Post saintbrat »

James Merlino, Minister of Sport and Recreation announced the package, and the Casey Scorpions will benefit with a $538 000 grant to help improve already imposing facilities>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

The grant will provide the Scorpions with a new grandstand on the opposite side to the current one, and will provide the Scorpion supporters with a first class area to enjoy the day at the football. The grandstand will consist of a large undercover seated and standing area as well as food, bar and toilet facilities on the out wing.

All it's taken is for StKilda to knock back Casey and now it is going ahead in leaps and bounds, including giving Melbourne land as an asset, why didn't they make the same offer to StKilda, anyway,it's off to the dung heap we go..

I'm not judging the area,i went and had a look at the Frankston ground,it's facilities and it's car parking,it came a distant second to Casey in all areas, still,i'm sure the club knows what it is doing......

The list changes for 2025 have begun, always an interesting time for an avid supporter.

All but a couple of the VFL grounds got funding for upgrades. Casey didn't do as well as some of the others.

It was a good funding program advocated into Government consideration by AFL Victoria and the AFL, and follows on from the State Government funding assistance to AFL clubs a couple of years ago ($55 million of which we got $3.45 million, but for some reason just don't seem to be able to get our act together enough to be able to spend it).

The grants provide $10 million for VFL venues around the state.

Yes, that extra grandstand will help boost crowd numbers at Melbourne-Affiliated Scorpion games from the 200 mark up to 500... maybe.

I think that the Minister might have received some inaccurate advice before making the comment about another grandstand on the outer side of the ground. In fact the intention is to have covered and terraced standing room on the outer side.

I'm not sure about the grandstand boosting numbers, but what will boost attendances will be the embracing by the Casey community of MFC because of its massive community partnership program, and the consequential increased interest in watching MFC's aligned partner.

So Casey Scorp, what is the definition of a grand stand?

Is it not a covered area for spectators to watch sports being played?

I think the generally accepted idea of a grandstand is something that people sit in (despite the term itself).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grandstand

"A grandstand is a large and normally permanent structure for seating spectators, most often at a racetrack. This includes both auto racing and horse racing. The grandstand is in essence like a single section of a stadium, but differs from a stadium in that it does not wrap all or most of the way around. Grandstands may have basic bench seating, but usually have individual chairs like a stadium. Grandstands are also usually covered with a roof, but are open on the front. They are often multi-tiered."

wikipedia?

Not the best source on any subject, let alone the English language.

The more accepted definition is a premier viewing position at a racecourse, athletic field, etc.

Good luck with that, Melbourne can't even get a crowd to watch them at the MCG. Casey is a long way from Mount Buller and Falls Creek.

You miss the point Otiman.

The increase in attendance will come from the local community (and they're less into snow-skiing than your average MFC supporter! ).
