Harves miked up
Just saw some footage of Harves miked up on On The Couch which included some snippets I didn't see during Sunday's coverage. Even something as simple as hearing Harves' reaction to a goal from the bench was pretty stirring stuff. You can't help but feel the young players in this group are going to derive so much benefit from being with him during these final games.
I might have this all wrong, but my opinion is that one guy who is particularly enjoying being out there for Harves' final moments is BJ. I keep thinking back to when he did the ACL last year... he cut an absolutely shattered figure and despite a great win that day, the post-match mood was extremely sombre as BJ hobbled around on crutches and received the commiserations of the rest of the playing group. As I said, I could be wrong but I reckon one of the many thoughts rushing through his head was that he'd just played his last game with Harves. Only the true believers would acknowledge that they didn't also think this to be the case at the time.
In today's paper I saw images of the team song, with BJ standing with his arm round Harves belting out the song which reinforced my view of how grateful BJ is to be playing alongside Harves in his last few games.
Not only is he enjoying these last games but he continues to play out of his skin which is the best part for us.

Was also most impressed with Harves positive energy when he was miked up, how could u pull on the red, black and white and not be committed to bust your gut for the man.... his encouragement and passion was crystal clear to all - he is an absolute inspiration.
It is not just for any bloke that the opposition lines up and applauds after getting whipped like that. Only the best command that.

Saw it too, fascinating stuff.
I especially liked Harv's attempt to distract an Adelaide player about to take an easy mark - "arghhhhhh arghhhhhhh arghhhhhh LEAVE IT!"
And also his little "don't give up, never give up, boys".
Not to mention his goal celebration while sitting on the pine which went "get in...YEAHHHHHHHH!"
Haha, gotta love the Wallbanger. Getting a tad emotional in his old age.

Unfortunately my coverage didn't include the song. But rapt with what I've got.markinUSA wrote:I was so impressed by Harves' comment "Don't give up, never give up" that I've decided to use it as my quote on my profile.
And BJ gave him a kiss on the side of the head after they finished singing the song! Did you see that?
New respect also for international supporters who stick so close like yourself, One Les Foote and Vietnam Saint. I'd go mad during footy season living outside Oz.

I think you have me confused with One Luke Ball. And I thought we were close!Iceman234 wrote:New respect also for international supporters who stick so close like yourself, One Les Foote and Vietnam Saint. I'd go mad during footy season living outside Oz.
We got the song here on Setanta. The cameraman seemed to be torn between staying focused on Harvs or going round the circle. In the end he did a little arc and then went back to Harvs.
Our next five games are all live on Setanta.
Win it for HIM!

Ummm yeah.
My Luke Ball is in Australia isn't he.....
Sorry MLF.
But it's the thought that counts. Fair dinkum I'd be even nuffier if I lived OS.
At least international fans now have the internet and cable tv.
I spent the better part of two years in Asia getting newspapers faxed to me daily (until the CEO found out that his secretary was the one doing the faxing). Relatives aren't always the most reliable when it comes to taping and sending you the games either.
As for Harv's being miked up, silly me I thought it said 'Milked Up' and I was expecting something else.
