Great work also markinUSA! I'll definately back quite a few of your choices!
I particularly liked these:
Breaking all the records
Running out the game
Without Robert Harvey
It just won't feel (????) the same.
I particularly liked these:
&A legend at St. Kilda
A hero to us all
Thank you Robert Harvey
The greatest of them all.
I changed the last one slightly??
Breaking all the records
Running out the game
Without Robert Harvey
Footy won’t be the same.

When they created LENNY HAYES (in the shadow of Harvs) they forgot to break the mold (again)- hence the Supremely Incredible Jack Steven!!

Living so far away i wouldn't normally even add my two cents re the banner - excellent work by the cheer squad - but this ones special so i'll chime in.
Actually like st. edward's signature as a banner.
Personally think rhyming banners are pretty primary school - but kudos for markinUSA's efforts - like this one most of his:
The heart and soul
Of St. Kilda
Lies in the heart
Of Robert Harvey.
(could change 'lies' to 'beats')

87 should be 88
saint4life
I was guessing it was 87 because at the press conference where he announced his retirement, didn't they say he had been playing 21 years? Or was it 20?
*** Edit: I looked at West of Moorabbing and it said that Harves debut was in 1988. My mistake.
I'd just substracted 21 from 2008. I checked the idea of 21 years with this statement in an Age article: "After 21 years of AFL perpetual motion, St Kilda's Robert Harvey is coming to rest." I found it at
http://news.theage.com.au/sport/robert- ... -3qtj.html
However, what I didn't notice is that the article also stated that he started his career in 1988. So I don't know.
Maths was never my strong suit!

just wondering what people thought of the banner this week?
when we heald it up there were a few cheers, for the first time this year. so it sounded like people liked it?
did anyone get a photo of it? i wouldnt mind seeing what it looked like

Looked fantastic, I was a big knocker of the CS but there has been little to criticise them for this whole year, they did their part today aswell, got a few chants going even though a couple of them died out...
Well done CS, keep it up!!

1988 counts as a year so 21 years is right. If you were counting the difference 1988 would start as zero.markinUSA wrote:I was guessing it was 87 because at the press conference where he announced his retirement, didn't they say he had been playing 21 years? Or was it 20?

yup... they chant is 'harvey is a legend - clap clap, clap clap clap clap - harvey is a legend - clap clap, clap clap clap - yes, it does sound like 'harvey is a wanker' from a distance!saint66au wrote:Was "Harvey is a legend" as I recall hehehe
What was the wording on the banner, and does someone have a pic. I'm. told you held it up for the cityside wing to see, but i must have missed it...all I saw was the Clean Bay advertising
the back of the banner was blue and it said something about 'Parks Victoria - healthy parks, healthy people - proud sponsors etc......'
and i can tell you now that back of the banner might of looked boring, but it took a friggin long time to make! all the blue paper had to be put down, then the letters cut and stuck just they way they wanted it!

Is that the one that they picked? I wasn't at the game unfortunately, and everyone keeps saying "the banner was great" but not saying what was on it!djsburke wrote:there is a small black and white picture of it in the Herald Sun- sport section.
