ROBERT HARVEY IN THE HOT SEAT
ON FOOTY CLASSIFIED
Tonight at 10.35pm on Nine
Tonight on Footy Classified on Nine there’ll be no room for the faint-hearted as Garry Lyon, Craig Hutchison, Caroline Wilson and Glenn Archer put St Kilda champion Robert Harvey in the Hot Seat.
Having announced his retirement last week, the panel will chat to Harvey about his amazing career and life after football. And despite St Kilda’s disappointing loss to Collingwood at the weekend, does Harvey believe the Saints are a chance at September glory one last time for him?
The panel will discuss the latest fallout from Whitten Oval after another quiet game from the Bulldogs and star recruit Jason Akermanis. Was former teammate Luke Darcy right to question Akermanis’ worth in the side?
Also, the latest on Jonathan Brown’s contract situation. Did his body language at Aurora Stadium on Saturday suggest to some he may be heading home? And the panel will pay tribute to two of the greats, Shane Crawford and Andrew McLeod, who both celebrated 300 games on the weekend.
Plus the latest round of votes in the AFL Coaches Association Drinkwise Player of the Year Award. With the leader board now in-camera, find out which players can add to their tallies with three rounds to go. Do the coaches agree with the press scribes who said Brent Harvey was best on ground yesterday? And which Blue continues to poll well? Find out tonight.
Footy Classified ... where there’s never any room for the faint-hearted.

KEEP HARVEY next year.
Interesting to hear 2 things:
He'd like to mentor in the "mental" preparation on game day.
He is old school, and believes in having the utmost respect for the coach.
Pity all the players don't think the same.

Very interesting and very open in his comments. Do we look at his comment regarding the ability of GT as a motivator as a possible dig at Lyon's inability to do the same?WayneJudson42 wrote:KEEP HARVEY nest year.

Also interesting in how the players were behind Blight, and his parise for GT era.
Was it just me or did he really seem that intent on making the point that he had a good relationship with GT and MB and that he and the older players benefited from GT's methods with motivating the younger brigade?
Thats Mr. Smartarse to you

I didn't read it that way
in an interview last week he mentioned all his coaches and their strengths - they only asked him about two tonight and didn't give enough time for him to go into any others- nor did they ask
they asked about his future BUt neglected to say -- "would that be at St Kilda"
both RL and GW have said they wish him to stay connected to the saints
to me he seemed a little nervous although handled all their questions well,
got not a lot more than has already been said or will be said.

will be uploaded - hopefully tomorrow on FC website- WWOS
he answered about the efforts- not that it was asked in that way
If you've listened to any of the interviews he's done over the week a large % of what he said was repeated
eaach interview he gives another little insight
tonights- Hayes has grownso well in his onfield and off field work and as a person huge respect
greta young guys around the club, has worked with them on the mental side of the game
Arch asked- after plugger _ (he has already answered that)- who next best- Roo getting there
PPS BJ got 6 off the coaches -votes.

At one stage mentioned I have had 7 coaches....I am from the old school....
respected a ll 7.........whom ever is the coach holds them in highest regard.....
was of course pushed on the 2 most recent sackings....
can recaall in past had very high praise for Sheldon/Alves etc........
He is all class the way he answered questions......and just shows so much respect for others.
In relation to mentoring......indicated he would look at that and indicated early/mid career had some good teachers in that area........not just GT era

You'll read into it based on where you sit with the whole RL / GT debate.Buckets wrote:Very interesting and very open in his comments. Do we look at his comment regarding the ability of GT as a motivator as a possible dig at Lyon's inability to do the same?WayneJudson42 wrote:KEEP HARVEY nest year.

Harvey has stated in the past that he likes RL as a coach and has learnt much from him.
Stop boxing at shadows.

my next query- item of interest would be to hear from Romero or Liberatore- twice now he has alluded to their 'tactics'
when asked about the toughest taggers- Harves replied that easier now as they don't saty on you the whole game- unlike 10 years ago- where the likes or R and L did
Archer came straight out and said- they pinch and poke you too? yes

Also said that each sacking of a coach was never expected by the playing group, everyone of them was always a shock.
Said it was dissapionting in the fact that every week this year when they run out they are not to sure what st kilda we are going to get?
Arch had that look of love in his eyes, 2 ripping blokes having a chat, it was a very good interveiw.
Hutchy asked about his jumper, his responce was who would want to wear such a high number
Cant remember what Caro was on about as I tend to tune out when she opens her mouth, at least the braces made you take notice, she should get them back in
