the coach allows the opposition to continually play loose men in our forward line, and tells our players to flood back, and continually plays players out of positiondegruch wrote:Oh puhlease...did the coach tell him to pop all his kicks straight up in the air, run 3 metres behind his player, lope around like it was a social match with the boys?bigcarl wrote:i'm with him on that. i also despise the scapegoat attitude. i want a coach who stands up and takes responsibility rather than trying to shift the blame.BigMart wrote:The coach will trade him, as a scapegoat.....and he will thrive at another club...(sound familiar)...

the coach doesn't seem able to be able to get the best out of him. nor out of quite a few others.degruch wrote:Oh puhlease...did the coach tell him to pop all his kicks straight up in the air, run 3 metres behind his player, lope around like it was a social match with the boys?bigcarl wrote:i'm with him on that. i also despise the scapegoat attitude. i want a coach who stands up and takes responsibility rather than trying to shift the blame.BigMart wrote:The coach will trade him, as a scapegoat.....and he will thrive at another club...(sound familiar)...

They play one extra, we play one extra (Goddard...30 touches!), except they seem to be able to cope better, because they dispose better, faster, and attack. I can't see how you can blame players like Lenny, Dal, Gram and Milney's poor disposal on the coach. That's a cop out.The_Dud wrote:the coach allows the opposition to continually play loose men in our forward line, and tells our players to flood back, and continually plays players out of positiondegruch wrote:Oh puhlease...did the coach tell him to pop all his kicks straight up in the air, run 3 metres behind his player, lope around like it was a social match with the boys?bigcarl wrote:i'm with him on that. i also despise the scapegoat attitude. i want a coach who stands up and takes responsibility rather than trying to shift the blame.BigMart wrote:The coach will trade him, as a scapegoat.....and he will thrive at another club...(sound familiar)...

You have got to be kidding? Gehrig an old man, 33 and has athritis
Gilbert, if he was a career killer would not be played
Dal Santo, he thinks he is too good for the team
Ross Lyon' the master stroke'
Blake- best he has ever played, finally has some respect
Clinton Jones' as above'
Eddy, geary, Jones- all off rookie list, why is he a career killer?
as i said earlier i like Dal, but he has got to lift his work rate. if he has tonsitlitis drop him get it fixed and play him in finals

Unfortunately that is not a medical condition.
There are a couple more on our list with the same condition IMO

I think to trade Dal would be a silly move. I know hes had a ordinary season but he is a game breaker when on song & lets face it with our list we can illafford to lose a player of Dals quality . He is definately not 100% fit & probably should be rested but we dont have too much to fall back on at the moment & he's not Robinson Carusoe when it comes to players having ordinary seasons.

NO player is bigger than the club FFS. If Dal wants to sook, then he should F*** off IMO.Teflon wrote:That the same coach that threw Gehrig a life line in re starting hios career?bigcarl wrote:i'm with him on that. i also despise the scapegoat attitude. i want a coach who stands up and takes responsibility rather than trying to shift the blame.BigMart wrote:The coach will trade him, as a scapegoat.....and he will thrive at another club...(sound familiar)...

Don't see a "lesser" player like Milne sooking, do you? Oh, yeah... RL threw him a lifeline also.
We do not need FIGJAMs at our club. Not happy? Bye Bye!

there's a fair bit of finger-pointing going on.
is it the coach's fault or is it the players? or a bit of both?
i'm loathe to point the finger at dal santo because i know he can play and have seen him play at a consistently high standard.
it has me puzzled why he (and a few others) don't play with the same free-wheeling confidence of a couple of seasons back.
at his best he's one of our leading play-makers.
i'm not at all convinced that he's an elite on-baller like judd or harvey. can't gut run like harvey. doesn't have judd's burst speed and physicality.
doesn't mean that i don't rate him. he can win us lots of matches if used correctly.
play him forward beside riewoldt for the whole match and see whether his creativity can lift a forward line that has barely functioned this season.

Fair dinkum ever since the streak finished we have hada team chock full of prima donnas and front runners with fragile egos...all expecting that somehow, sometime someone will give them a flag rather than them having to work for it.
Under RL they are just as fragile as they were under GT post-streak.
Dal is very representative of the team. On song takes your breath away...but other times goes missing big time.
We have very few Bangers, Blakes and Maxes who can grind out good football each and every week and quarter.,,,,but many many Dals who play cameoes.
They need to wake up and realise that footy is a TEAM game and that you need to play EVERY week.
Flying the World in comfort thanks to FF Points....

much more so.saintsRrising wrote:Under RL they are just as fragile as they were under GT post-streak.
we've stood still and watched while geelong, the bulldogs, hawthorn and collingwood have gone past us. carlton looks more likely to win a flag than us.
i'm not sure whether dal or kosi or gehrig or even GT is solely to blame for our falling fortunes.

Too right. The effort in ?2nd quarter which led to a Collingwood goal was just in front of me - he looked like he was trying to work out how he was going to silkily beat his man before he'd even picked up the ball - and BANG, he fumbled, the pies took away the loose ball and kicked a goal.St Fidelius wrote: He hasn't got tonsillitis mate, he is missing some balls....

But then in the 4th quarter, there's Dal, under the packs scrapping again...... a good solid final quarter from him.
I can accept that players have good and bad days/quarters skill wise, but surely you should be going in hard ALL of the time. That is not too much to ask is it?
We play Fremantle again next week. Not sure about dropping Dal again, but...... hmmm......
Hird... The unflushable one is now... just a turd...
