Lenny Hayes - who thinks he played well?

Post: # 618955Post BigMart »

Because I got howled down for bagging his footskills two weeks ago......tonight I watched him closely.....

his kicking efficiency was ATROCIOUS!!!!!!

he turned the ball over directly nearly 10 times....three times they scored as a result....

Now, I love the way Lenny plays.....and IMO he has been a gun Mid for many years....he is our 2nd best player and has been since 2003....

but, he has hardly hit a target, for a long while now - not sure why??

same with Joey, Gram, S.Fish, Riewoldt - who have all got worse over the years.....Blake, CJ, Hudghton have always been crap...

He tried his guts out as always but shanked everything....when he runs into goal from 25m he ALWAYS misses...you can put your house on it.

Love #7 but was ordinary tonight....still think he's carrying an injury, likewise Dal Santo - or the tonsillitis is effecting him or he's not happy there at the moment....no evidence but I reckon he's not getting on with the coach....seems flat and uncreative...uncharacteristically poor skills last few games.

was in the top 5 midfielders in the comp before he did his knee

ever since them his foot skills have never been the same

gets lots of the ball, is tough as nails, i love him to death, but its a pity injury has hampered another extremely promising career (Ball, Kosi)

Wasn't there talk that Hayes might have missed tonight through a minor injury?

Explains why his game was unsatisfactory.

If he was unsatisfactory what were about 18 other players? In our best 3-4 IMO.

Which goals did he set up plugger???

His effort was first rate (as per usual) but his output was terrible!!!!

accumulated touches and turned them over.....

Neale Daniher thought Hayes was our best.

I disagree. Goddard was our best with Riewoldt close behind.

Hayes didn't have a good night. Many turnovers. Didn't have any support around the clearances and we got smashed there.

Missed the hardness of Luke Ball.

But his disposal skills were average at best.

Didnt say he set up goals just said he was in the best 3-4 not that means he was a star just means we had many worse than him.

Two bad kicks which went straight to Collingwood players in last quarter were costly. But what the heck! We shouldn't have been trailing anyway. But if they'd been on target we may have just had a chance to 'steal' a win

Got a lot of the ball, but like a lot of our players, butchered the ball time after time.

Lenny played as lenny always does , his kicking skills are not one of his stongest attributes but you can never doubt his commitment. It does amaze me that our foot skills are so bad for proffessional footballers & seems to have gotten worse under Ross Lyon. Other teams are way better than us , but why? Do we recruit players with poor kicking skills? Do we not practise enough ?Is it the game plan? What I do know it frustrates the hell out of me to see us continually turn the ball over from sloppy disposal. What do you guys reckon ?

Tackled well, got some contested ball but he can't kick.

Although he's not the only one. Guys like Jones get crucified on this site

for their disposal, but Lenny, Ball, Sam Fisher, Gram, Gilbert, Schneider, Roo

all constantly miss targets.

We really need to find some class in the midfield to complement the guys

who can get the ball.

Had a shocker of a night. Got plenty of the pill, but when he wasn't floating it (something he wasn't the only one guilty of) he was passing it to Collingwood.

I love Lenny, but his foot skills let him down tonight.

At least we have a job for Harvey. 101 how to kick a football (you cost me a premierahip) Riewoldt, not invited, learn how to kick for goal if you want to be a forward. Kosi, disappear. For the amount of crap Bryce Gibbs has copped, I;d prefer him. TRADE KOSI BEFORE# HE KILLS US. Done nothing but one purple patch.

Sorry I got off topic. The only reason we aren't top 3 is the fact, like it or not, we are THE worst skilled team in the comp. WE SUCK ASS! NO EXCUSES

Last weeks game ended with Lenny nursing a hamstring, remember. He probably should not have played last night. That was maybe why he was shanking his kicks.
Over the more than 60 years I have followed the Saints, I have seen us lose many many games (including finals) because we have played injured players. Although I cant think of anyone that could have come in and done better than Lenny last night.

Worst game of his career...

Post: # 619335Post WinnersOnly »

Worst game of his career...he looks to be playing very tired football, just playing on courage alone. He needs to be relieved of the workload LYON (f-wit) is expecting of him....

BM, on TV, Hayes looked worse than it actually was.
Time and time again noone was running and the ones that provided options were 60 and 70 metres away meaning Hayes had to kick the cover off the ball to get it there, hence the clangers.

He's not a great kick, especially when passing to forwards low down, but he is good enough.

Playing injured. No take-off speed. Laboured all night but toughed it out.
