Will Collingwood acknowledge Harvey? !!
I remember what Richmond did for Burkey (I know spud probably generated it) and thought that it would be really nice for Harvs to receive some acknowledgement from opposition clubs between now and the end of the season.
We play Collingwood, Adelaide, Freemantle and Essendon + FINALS. How many of these would be sporting enough to acknowledge a true legend of the game? !!

With Burke it was his last game.
You would not expect each and every club to do it.
Nor should we want it.
A farewell each week would be distracting.

I doubt they will. Not through lack of respect but more so something to try and diffuse their problems of this week.
Besides it's not actually his last game.
If you want something to make you burst with pride read the "Robert Harvey Appreciation" thread on Bigfooty.
Started by a Cat fan and followed up by a positive post from nearly every other club !
He is universally respected and he's a Saint.

I wouldn't be surprised if Malthouse made a point of highlighting Harv's to his young players of an example of someone they should be modelling themselves on.
I'm sure if they don't officially recognise him, every Collingwood player will want to shake his hand. Such is the respect he commands. I know if I was playing against a true legend of the game for the last time I'd want to make sure I shook his hand.

Why the hell would they do it if it's not his last game?
Of course they won't - and it's something we shouldn't ask for or even consider.
Grrrr
...focus on the game, people! I'm sure each player Harvey comes up against will want to shake his hand post match until he retires. That's all.

That's because Blighty took your rats tossbag, wasn't it?Otiman wrote:Who cares? I didn't give a rats tossbag about Buckley when he retired.
Anyway. Exactly...I didn't give a stuff when Hird, Bradley, Lockett, or any other big name retired, and most non-Saints fans wouldn't give a stuff about Harvs either. I figure any Collingwood player spotted doing a Brendon Fevola style meet 'n' greet to Harvs with have his nuts personally crushed by Gary Pert, they sure as hell won't be giving him a 21 gun salute. It's not even his last game ffs.
If the team doesn't focus for this game, there will be no finals and I'm sure Harvs would wish this was his last! They've got a duty to go the extra mile for him, but most importantly, for the club.

Ironic if we don't by some chance make the finals that we will play against Essendon in the last round, as Banger supported the Dons when he was a youngster.bethb7 wrote:Maybe not at this game I would love to see it, but I think it will be done in round 22 against essendon & maybe when (and if) we get knocked out in the finals.

Think this is all we can expect from Collingwood.
Think he will get a sore hand from all the handshakes at each game's end and a guard of honour at his last game

agree it will be a distraction.
the one thing Harvey has deserved is a Grand Final in this last very year.
if he recieves too much acknowlegment...it may cost us high finals..
to acknowledge the champ, we must focus on the gameplans. thats is his form of ackowledgment.
let us pray no injury on earth will curse the man before the end................. not in a million years.
