Gwilt or X?

Post: # 615712Post WayneJudson42 »

Just wondering...

Who's a better skilled player?

X has pace and tackles. Kicking for goal is questionable, as is his body. Can play both ends, and in the middle.

Gwilt hasn't played as often, but is strong, and has a silky left foot. Can also play both ends. But looks better up fwd.

Thoughts?

Watched X last Sunday in VFL. He is weeks away from game fitness and looks lighter than ever.

I can only asssume that you have never seen X play (which is possible given the number of games he has missed).

You assume wrong, Grasshopper. Have seen X play since he was drafted.

Not doubting his talent. Just posing the question. Care to answer?

X in 2004 is way better

Gwilt has played 2 good games but shows plenty of upside

GT wrecked X Clarke, he was flashy and he was a carbon copy of Nicky winmar.......He took it out of his game and he is unsure of himself

Bit like the question: Who was the more skilled player, Lockett or Schwarze?

They don't even play the same sort of game.

What are you actually asking?

we have to drop Schneider. He is way too unaccountable. Birss in for Lyon's lovechild.

Yeah Gilbert's times up for mine,so if Max is right bring him in.

If you had never seen Gilberts season last year you'd think that he was the worst player in the league. What has happened to him?

Last year he was brilliant,I thought a star in the making. This year he has been shocking, doesn't look like a footballers a**hole!

Birss -Ball
Max- Gilbert
Armo-Geary

Bakes only comes in for either Dempster or McQualter. They keep there spot at the moment for mine.
Give X another week or two

Umm, who's got better skills?

By hands?
By foot?
By hardness?
By marking?
By decision making?
By pace?
By fitness?
By versatility?

Stupid question if it's about skills.

Gwilt doesn't compare to X.

Gwilt has a stronger body and better chance of stringing games together than X, who has a history of leg injuries keeping him out of the game... he is a way off yet. Gwilt also has some goal sense. Baker is a long way off and needs to capture his old form in the Scorps without getting rubbed out again. Mini is going from strength to strength and is doing a Baker like job very well. Gilbert is shakey-his disposal by foot is poor, and he is slow to get up when he hits the ground in contests -easy for opponents to run off him. I would give Geary another game or two and also bring Birss in for Ball. Schneider needs a big game againsts the drunks this week.

The only thing that really matters is that Gwilt's best game was 2 days ago, X's best game was Feburary 2007 in a Nab Cup Cairns monsoon.

Therefore Gwilt gets the nod for this week.

Stupid answer. Is it that hard to reply? I take it you think that X has better skills, then?

What if they were put head to head on the track?

Watch some games that X has played and that will answer your question.

I like the way Gwilt plays, however most of his skills need to improve.

Long kicking being the exception.

Gwilt is very highly skilled... In his failures at AFL to date it has been his awarness and application that has let him down, not skills... He may have overcome these issues affecting his game and got some urgency into him...

for mine, Gwilt....
