this is very minor i know, but still it infuriates me to see that in last sundays age robert eddy was in fact reffered to as ANDREW EDDY..

i mean seriously, how can you make such a big (yet minor) f*** up.. is it really that hard to learn the names of a player when your job is to kkow football inside and out..

i don't have the paper in front of me so i don't know who wrote the story and i never read the age so i am not all that familiar with their writers.

Best one I ever heard was Tim Webster refering to Tony "Plunger" Lockett.

The Age do make a few errors.

A few weeks back they mentioned that Brad Hodge had a hamstring strain, yet he was playing cricket for Australia. Yeah it should have been Luke Hodge.

Surely it's not that hard.

read the sunday mail for the saints vs hawks it has the hawks sign as the bombers sign.

typical queensland having no effort in respecting the AFL and no general knowlege of it and puts the game of the week in the tiniest article in the paper.

That is nothing compared to Fox News last week. Called Schiederman Robert Schnieder or something (definately not Adam), also called Armo Schnieder as well. There was another one which I forget too.
You'd think after covering all games every week, there would be a system where they could give the news desk the correct names.

I also thought I heard someone call out "Joe Blake" in the ruck ... twice!??

Yep, on ch 10, during his charge last week in the third quarter.

Didn't know if it was some sort of in joke for Tim and Robbie?

I'm pretty sure they mentioned it a lot more times than that. Pretty much every possession was either "Blake" or "Joe Blake." Sounded pretty intentional.

on the broadcast of the game last week they called him Joe Blake which was quite bizarre. def a pet peeve of mine when journos dont remmeber the names of the players- youd assume also that they would have fact checkers? yet they still make slips like calling eddy andrew instead of robert. hmm.

For you city slickers a "Joe Blake" is rhyming slang for a snake. Rex Hunt has called Blakey "Joe" for years, so it's been kind of an accepted nickname for him, even if the supporters don't use it.
