Ideal result for final 6 games.
We win all the remaining games except one and get into Final Four.
(One we lose is to Fremantle, providing they have beaten W.C.E., thus giving them 5 wins, and excluding them from PP at end of lst round. To get this result we could rest Roo, Max, Steve King, Ballsy, and maybe Sam Fish or Gram, and give Harvs minimum time on ground). We would then go into finals in an excellent position.

Barry, while I'd love to see us finish 4th it may be better finishing 5th.
To meet the Cats in the first final wouldn't be any advantage over finishing 5th and playing 8th.
I'd have to be realistic and say a win over the Cats in week one would be unlikely. Then we've lost our top 4 advantage and a dent in the confidence.
Unless we could get to 3rd or 2nd I'm happier seeing us in 5th or 6th.
Lower than that and we could face Brisbane in Brisbane.
Probably too early to go this far with finals

I recall this happening in week 1 '04 against the Lions. we got poleaxed.
I guess it wouldn't matter really. What's the diff playing them week 1, week 3 or in the granny?

The lid is off after Round 2! Enjoy the journey, coz you just don't know where we'll end up. Live for today and seize the moment.
Umm....how does " we lose and we are still in it" sound like as an advantage? To meet the Cats in the first final wouldn't be any advantage over finishing 5th and playing 8th.
Never ever ever ever EVER devalue the double chance. Look at North last year. Smashed by Geelong in the first week yet came back and thrashed Hawthorn a week later
No such thing as "only playing 8th" in a final. Whole new ball game

I think (and hope) we can win 5/6 maybe our only hurdle being collingwood then again I think we are defiantly good enough to beat them, I mean when we last met them we were in terrible form and we did only lose to them by 9 points. But lets take it one week at a time
If you can't give the commitment you gave this year and you don't want to improve, you can go because we have unfinished business-Ross Lyon
It seems to me that (making a massive assumption) we and they win all our expected games it is playing Collingwood (round 20?) that will decide 4th or 5th.
4th and we presumably (but not neccessarily) will lose to Geelong and then probably play Collingwood.
5th and we will play 8th (Brisbane or North?) and winning that play Collingwood.
So it seems like Collingwood have a huge say in where we end up this year.
I for one am quietly confident as I think when we play our best footy we will beat them easily.

Freo won't get a PP this year no matter what. The PP rule is now decided over 2 seasons. If they win less than 4.5 games two years in a row then they get the pick at the end of the 1st round.
4th is the charm... Geelong are beatable, just have to take your chances like Collingwood did & we had the chance to do.

Let's see what happened last year.
Didn't Collingwood nearly beat Geelong last year in the Preliminary final?
If it had; all this talk about fearing Geelong would be a furfy 'cause Collingwood would be the reigning premiers.
If (and it's a big IF), we finish 4th and play Geelong; we'll be playing them on equal terms on the day. How lucky is that (them with 21 wins and us with 15 max).
How sweet it would be to get a fortnights break from there. It would turn the entire competition upside down.
Another point to note. 4 weeks ago prior to our game against North; our flag odds were 100/1. We're now 12/1. Funny how things turnaround.

I once spent a year in Adelaide, I think it was on a Sunday.

Swans losing twice is not as suprising as it sounds.wolfpup wrote:if i have this right, sydney have to lose twice in the last 6 rounds and we have to win every game to finish 4th?
only other way would be a massive hawks slump in form.
anyways, my danger games for the last rounds are freo and port, and i feel comfortable in the rest of them
They play the Cats, Doggies and Pies in the run home not to mention Adelaide who have beaten them 8 of the last 9 times (or close to) they have played.
The swans will lose 2 games, our top 4 hopes are in our hands, win and we make it.
