4 weeks ago the boys went to the quarter time huddle up at the dog heap that is cararra. They had played with no confidence, their talisman and captain was having a shocker, nothing was clicking. They had every right to say "not our night".....

but they dug deep, I remember writing on this forum half through that second quarter "season on the line" and it was. The team drew a line in the sand, they would back each other, believe in each other and work their arses off for each other.

The goals started to come, the tackles, hard ball gets, the shepards kept coming. Milne kicks the dealer and we have come back from the dead!

Front up after a week off at the MCG, play well for 3 quarters but a combo of bad umpiring calls, judd brilliance and great roving by betts and Carlton are smelling an upset and finals. They have had won 6 final quarters in a row and get within a kick. Once again the team has a choice, give up the game meekly or work even harder. They stand up, lenny lifts in the middle, dal starts to run the lines, roo and kosi stand up. The tackles stick, the pressure up forward result in cloke kicking across the ground and armo finishes them.....

The theme continues on saturday night, the match up's aren't working, tackling isn't stickling, we are making mistakes because we don't back each other.

The captain stands up, kicks 2 great goals to start the third quarter, our CHB is thrown into the ruck, gets taps, clearances and three great goals. We take our tackle total from 14 at half time to 34 at three quarter time. Dal slips in to take a mark, the hawks are starting to feel the forward pressure and keep turning it over. 8 goals to 2 and we lead going into the final quarter.

The hawks never look like it in the final quarter, the team has an inner determination that is the

SAINT SPIRIT

No matter what happens, they can dig deep and pull themselves over the line. They have found an ability to step up their work rate, pressure and selflessness.......
