For some it works that way, others convert.
Steve Johnson's family were one-eyed Magpie supporters. They cried when he was drafted by the Cats.
Now they're dyed in the wool Geelong fans.
Fev's a meathead, but I've often wondered whether there isn't an element where the degree of necessary cultural change that's gone on at Carlton the last few years hasn't made it harder for them to take the hard line to get him to shape up. In the end, he's taken a very admirable step this year in putting aside the booze, and it's worked for him... and created a very different situation from 12 months ago where nobody would have blamed Carlton for giving him the boot along with Whitnall.
Fast forward to today, and the only team that wouldn't have a walk-up spot in the 22 for Fev would be Hawthorn... so as much as it irritates me listening to Fev speak, Carlton isn't in a position to be publicly questioning the guy's loyalty right now. They cannot afford to be saying "our way or the door" with a guy as unpredictable as Fev who might choose the door in a forum that would leave them weak if they need to trade him. The lure of being a career Carlton man obviously isn't what it once was.

I don't think there is any evidence that Cousins is out of the ringer, or has repented.yipper wrote:
I personally reckon that Cousins is a safer bet than Kerr. At least Cousins has been exposed and put through the ringer a bit. Like MG who has now settled right down - but Kerr is just a ratbag. He may be only 24 - but he needs to actually get pinged like Cousins and MG have been before he starts to repent!!
I haven't been following Kerr closely in the media, but he's player, and if he's still up to shenanigans, then ya, i concur that I wouldn't like him at st kilda.

Would have been a good deal two years back, but now... I'm not so sure.
Goddard will play 250 games for St kilda plus.
he is already just one and half steps below the elite level
and to be honest, he's being underutilised.
put him at FF and play the Carlton game plan (kick it Fev) and Goddard will kick bags of goals too.
Probably Just behind Riewoldt as the best mark in the team atm.
and if you think goddard can't kick long goals

Fev will find himself at West Coast in a swap for Daniel Kerr if he's not careful.
I'm of the thinking that Carlton should take a hard line and get something good for him now. Short term pain, long term gain.
If they could trade up in the draft, they could land Jack Watts, for example, who will be a gun forward for another 10 years.
Don't want him at St Kilda though. Too much hugging going on already!!

Given your diminished level of perspicacity, hey you once voted for Howard, so it's hard to take you seriously, know what I mean?SENsaintsational wrote:Just like your statement it seems.barks4eva wrote:or three shrugs for, really I have no idea whatsoever, I just thought I'd make a statement, because it makes me feel important?!....markp wrote:Is that one shrug for no, or two shrugs for yes?!....stinger wrote:shrugs....barks4eva wrote:Yeah, do tell, or have you said more than you should have already?stinger wrote:

FG went from gun FF to circle work in 12 months.
Kerr is a premier midfielder and has 6 plus seasons ahead of him.

I live in Melbourne and was not a registered voter in the Billabong electorate up in NSW, so how did I exactly vote for Howard?
Surely a man of polished political ponderings such as yourself has been able to figure out the way our political system works.
Of course you comment has as much relevance to the debate as the length of the tattoo on my member.

Was told today by a mate of mine who is a Carlton supporter and who was in their rooms prior to last Friday night's game that Fev was wandering around trying to fire up his teammates about winning
"Do we wanna be their bitches'
'We owe them plenty'
etc. etc.
Given his post match hugging it would seem he works on the principle
'Do as I say and not as I do'.

I concurbergsone wrote:Dont reckon seen the best of Goddard yet.Fev is allways going to be a gamble week in week out just dont know what you will get.
I feel like he's on the verge of really dominating.
if we can get the midfield right, I wouldn't mind putting goddard at CHF or FF.
he has some good burst speed and knows when to use it, (like banger)
he is such as good mark, that with riewoldt around, it just slips under the radar.
and when he winds up for a kick, its sort of brilliant, when you see a 60m pass cutting through to the opposite wing.
(I would say at 21 gwilt is ALMOST as good)

Maybe with the hugging etc is a gesture of saying I GIVE UP,has he played in a winning side against us?Mr Magic wrote:Was told today by a mate of mine who is a Carlton supporter and who was in their rooms prior to last Friday night's game that Fev was wandering around trying to fire up his teammates about winning

No he is not the same player, but it was an age comparison.St DAC wrote:Dan, if you think Gwilt is in the same hemisphere as Goddard as a player you are fair dinkum dreamin'. It's not even close.Dan Warna wrote:(I would say at 21 gwilt is ALMOST as good)
Gwilt has a very similar long/low kick like Goddards'.
