Stephen Milne - 150th in all time AFL/VFL Goalkickers
Hi
I was checking up the stats on all time leading AFL/VFL goalkickers... and after yesterday's game against Carlton, Steven Milne became the 150th all time leading goal kicker in the history of the game. Great stuff mate!
Here's the source of the stat:

"Don't give up, never give up" - Robert Harvey.
this is one I agree with you plugger.
only jeff farmer has a higher goals per game return on Milne (and that by less than .01)
MIlne has scored at least 1 goal in 127 of his games (so he is at least consistent), with an 'average' of 2, to consistently contribute at least 1 goal is what you'd expect for such a player, and some games he scores none (about 1 in 6 games).
in recent years the only small forwards to have better years that Milne are Phil matera, who was the effective full forward for a number of years, Mark Williams at the hawks, who was also the de-facto FF, Nathan Brown was named AA FP with 50 goals, and medhurst is having a spanker this year.
Jeff Farmer and nathan brown both have better all round stats, but remember both players cost around 400k to 500k to their respective clubs, with farmer and NB getting at least 2 years at 500k p/a
I'd be very suprised if Milne was anywhere near that wage, especially given that GT didn't value milne from comments from him wanting to trade or de-list him.
Its quite possible in the abscence of big FG and Rooey having the yips that Milne will be st kilda's top goal scorer in 08, as a crumbing forward...

more to the point he kicks 2 more goals and he is 5th for our club ever
loved hearing maxy interviewed by MMM
"he's a goal kicker and thats what he does"
"your probably talking about the jones handball but he's in the team to kick goals and its very rare for him to miss those ones" or words to that effect
"he knows he has parts of his game to work on and he is"

5 prelims in 7 years. 40 wins from 49 games.
2009 and 2010 were 2 of the 5 best years ever by the St.Kilda FC.
Thanks for all your efforts Saints.

farmer is an outstanding player, but he's an idiot.Russman wrote:Well done Milney,
and for the record , I much prefer him in the team than Farmer.
Farmer commits a lot more selfish and undisciplined acts than Milne.
worst thing he did for his career was take the 500k from Freo and possibly the best from a financial perspective.
They are a fair dinkum basket case.
Hopefully he's invested it wisely for his future, because no one will offer him that sort of money again.
pavlich, white, haselby, bell, tarrant, medhurst, farmer, heath black croad, mcpharlin, the list goes on of brilliant talent that has transitted through freo.
if Leigh Matthews ever got a hold of that list, its scarey how good they good be.

Wow, i haven't even commented this yet.
Great effort Stevie, i've followed you closely for some time now, 6 years in fact, and you've provided much entertainment. Keep it up buddy, seems like you keep on achieveing. Top stuff.
Oh and On The Couch it would be nice if you actually followed through with what you said and spoke about Milney and his 5 goals, or is it simply too hard to admit when the yapper is doing well?
