Sixth not out of the question
With Brisbane losing today we are one game and percentage out of sixth spot with 8 games to go.
If we can beat Adelaide at the Dome and Collingwood we would be well on the way to getting there.
This would give us a home final in the first week. (A Melbourne final at least)
A win would put us up against Geelong / Hawks / Dogs assuming Sydney are locked into 4th place.
If we finish 5th we could be looking at a trip to Sydney in the second week.
Finish 7th or 8th and we would likely travel to Brisbane or Adelaide in the first week.
Or we could play like we did in the first quarter last night and finish 12th. But I choose to believe.

5 prelims in 7 years. 40 wins from 49 games.
2009 and 2010 were 2 of the 5 best years ever by the St.Kilda FC.
Thanks for all your efforts Saints.

Yep!... and that's all that matters. Do enough to get there with a full, fit, firing list, and you can snatch it from anywhere in the 8.aussierules0k wrote: Go Saints... we're building towards a peak in September!

I'd rather Collingwood at the G than Adelaide at AAMI though. 8th in your ladder, would be better than 7th.aussierules0k wrote:After a few hours crunching numbers ala teams attack v defense and using that info in the predictor...

Here's my final 8.

9 Nth Melb 22 9 12 1 2121 2217 95.67 38
We might snag 7th, but unless CrowLice fall away which I doubt, 6th looks doubtful....at this stage....

My question is, if we finish 7th or 8th we will play an AWAY final (it may be in Melbourne if it's vs. Pies!).
Do we get none of the gate as per home and away matches, or is it split 50/50?
Does anyone know?
Reason I'm asking this as there are only 2 things we will likely gain from a finals appearance this year:
(1) Extra cash and exposure for the club (if revenue is split 50/50)
(2) Finals playing experience for the new players.
We are zero threat for the flag at the moment.
If we string together say 5 in a row convincingly, it may be a little different.
Very early days to say we are back in town IMO.....

Actually, if we can beat both Collingwood and Adelaide, then fifth is not out of the question.
What we really want to avoid (if we can) is a final in Brisbane. A final in Adelaide doesn't hold as much fear for me as another trip to the Gabbatoir.
The bonus for a first up win in the finals is that with only Sydney from interstate in the top four, there is a good chance we may not have to leave Melbourne for any finals.

But if we do win every game and finish 4th , we are guaranteed playing every game in Melbourne.
