Ross Lyon 3AW - 6:20 with Transcript
Selection - Spoke firstly about last weeks omissions. Stated they were the consequences to the inconsistency of the players/team. Very pleased with the 'attitude' and 'effort' shown by both Milne and Dal Santo. Both are in consideration for this week, with the final training session tomorrow.
Spirit and Effort - Spoke how it was present in last weeks game. And also in the game against the Tigers.... Noted that we were the 2nd best first quarter team.
McQualter - Threw his name when talking about the players efforts. Noted that some players find out what trying is and what 'really' trying is when they get delisted, then used McQualter as an example. Words were sort of like, his efforts this year have resulted in him having an AFL career.
Luke Ball - Asked if he was concerned. Didn't sound like he was...Then spoke about his progress in terms of running this year. His body is starting to allow him to run, like an elite midfielder should.
Nick Riewodlt - Asked if he was pleased about Roo's first goal. Instant Yes! Noted that adjustments were made with his kicking....amongst other stuff. Thought he was truly best on ground on Friday.
Koschitzke and Gehrig - Kos will likely play this week. Gehrig is a fair was off.
Ben Cousins - Said it was a logical question. It was important on behalf of the supporters to explore all options. Said a decision was irrelevant until it was shown that Ben's health was fixed.

2nd best still isn't good enough, neither is 1/4 of a match.
Thanks for the synopsis, hopefully there is a podcast of it up tomorrow.

RL doesn’t seem to give too much away so I'm always suspicious when he discusses any topic other than effort, intensity, contested possessions or tackling.

Was that the game we finished with 19 fit players? Played the second half without our captain and best player. Had our full back pull out just before the game. Lost our Centre Half Back. Were behind at half time.iwantmeseats wrote:um, I must have this wrong, someone set me straight, wtf is he on about with the richmond game??
That was a terrible effort and the biggest steal in recent history. Should have lost it. If he is pointing that out for special mention, im lost.
Maybe that's what he meant.
Win it for HIM!

You kinow its not my fault, I like to drink at the footy, and a fair bit beforehand, which means memory suffers.

Better than thrashing a woeful melbourne, or a "respectable loss" to Collingwood, as some have stated on here.rodgerfox wrote:I'm very concerned by the examples Lyon gives as positives.
His point is battling through adversity to bring in the 4 points, not playing good footy. When you have belief in yourself through efforts like these, the good footy will follow.

____Battling through adversity
I think we were behind on every stat taken that match except the scoreboard at the siren
I opened a post on "how the hell did we win" or words to that effect
I think the consensus was sheer grit and detirmination to win, maybe thats what RL was on about then____________

From memory we 3 injured who couldn't come back on (2 of these before 1/2 time) and another 2 who probably shouldn't have been out there through injury. Add Raph to that (after what was revealed today) and you can see where he was coming from !!my les foote wrote:Was that the game we finished with 19 fit players? Appallling wins I would call them..and add some more appalling wins and next thing you know, we are in the eight and a chance for an appalling effort to win the flag in a scrappy spectacle where we just scrape home..rodgerfox wrote:I'm very concerned by the examples Lyon gives as positives.
Last week was simply appalling.
The Richmond game was worse.
To use thos as examples of things going the way he wants, is concerning to say the least.
Like when he used the second half of last year as evidence of us being any good.

Good post Rodger - I agree. Amazing after all this time we could come together with a solid, considered opinion.rodgerfox wrote:I generally post only negative cr@p and take silly little pot shots at Ross Lyon in order to seek attention to address my insecurities while pretending to generate debate.
Well done.
