Anyone who saw that game when riewoldt was out injured in 2007 just before BJ copped his injury where he played CHF, it was pretty damn good.
folks stood up and noticed, and he then got cut down with injury.
BJ has been between solid and good for a couple of years now, just doesn't get the notice.
and thats good.

yes great game from BJ and its exciting to think we've yet to see the best of him
I think it could be good if we could afford to keep playing him wing/midfield and maybe change with Roo at CHF at times during the game...just a thought , but i like the idea of either of them being able to get down deep into the back half when needed as well as having impact forward a la Richo
To have 2 out there able to play a simalar role could be awesome...
or am I getting a bit carried away here and a bit hard to orchistrate?

I agree. Last year before he did his knee he was playing great footy, but just wasn't getting the credit. Its great that he's been able to play such good footy this year so soon after his knee injury! Hopefully we can give him more time in the midfield soon.

that's a pretty good comparison actuallysnippa wrote:At the risk of being shot to pieces....BJ reminds me a lot of Nathan Buckley.

I know most on here hate Buckley, but if BJ can be as dominant a player as he, we have a lot to look forward to.
here's hoping

Didnt Dal play in all our other wins this year and didnt BJ play back in all our wins this year or do we use only one game to support an arguement.sunsaint wrote:as per expected .The_Dud wrote:nosunsaint wrote:So are people not giving Lyon enough credit.
Was NDS holding Goddard out of a centre line roaming assignment?
But the conclusion is obvious,
NDS out Goddard in. we win

People have been crying out for Goddard to play this role for god knows how long, Dal and Goddard are two completely different players and there is room for both of them on the wing/ centre...

not suprising that BJ, grammy and roo all played their best games for the year in the positions that best suit them
BJ ruck rover.
Roo floating wing
Gram midfield.
Give kosi, allen and gilbert time togeether and we will not need roo down forward. Was great to watch him float back and take some great marks.
BJ's contested mark and goal was awesome

I suggest you take another look at the player reaction after the siren, before you right off round 13 as "just one game"

The week before footscray, 3rd & lost
2 weeks before that brisbane, 7th in brisbane & lost
This week we played at home against the purple rabble who are deservedly 14th & we just scraped over the line and somehow that justifies your trite simplification above. You seem to have an agenda that allows you to overlook reality in order that you can make your own point.

you might think the point the point is trite but to be honest I dont give a rats. The selection panel, the coaching staff, and the playing group would beg to differ on whether the point is trite.karnaby wrote:Last week we played sydney who are 4th on the ladder in sydney & lostsunsaint wrote:as per expected .The_Dud wrote:nosunsaint wrote:So are people not giving Lyon enough credit.

So to waste a bit more bandwidth...
Vs SS we lost: NDS had 17poss 2 cont 5 uncont by comparison CJ had 20 poss 5 cont 6 uncon O'Keefe smashed us out of the middle
Vs WB lost: NDS had 29poss 1 cont 9 uncon Giansiracusa smashed us out of the middle, CJ got 20 & 2 goals.
VS BL lost: NDS had 20poss 3 cont 18 uncon. Birss, Montagna, Harvey, Ball, & Hayes all above him, CJ equalled him.
And it was this game that I lost faith in him. I watched one of the most selfish out of bounds on the full shots on goal I have seen from a professional footballer.
If you're trying to make a point about the losses being to teams above us on the ladder, it is not valid, if we are to play finals we must win those games.
Your point that the win against freo is a hollow win is invalid if we dont beat the Roos next week.
What agenda? anyone who remembers any of my posts knows I go into bat for the StKilda players being hammered here every time. I admire players like Rix, Birss and CJ who give their everything when they run out on the ground. And you question my reality? Take off the star biased rose coloured glasses, the fact is NDS is not living up to the reputation he was drafted with. He has not improved his game, he IS struggling and the playing group, the coaching staff, and selection panel have had enough. That is the reality.

BJ has been played out of position all of his carear, we had a strong center line up when he was younger and was forced down back. He was an outstanding center junior player, he has said many times his ambition was to crack it to play in the center for us...... hopefully RL will continue to give him a run where he belongs

You fail to realise that we can have both NDS and BJ in the middle. Matter of fact we still dont have enough onballers so I dont see how Dal was stopping BJ play in the middle. Only the coaching panel were.
agree a little, especially with schneider, milne and dal santo coming out of the team opened up more midfield time for BJ. Add Hayes going down in the second quarter meant he had to play almost the full game onball.sunsaint wrote:Hayes, Ball, Harvey, Montagna, Goddard, Birss, Baker, Armitage, CJ, McQualter, Schneider...
Also remember that when we were missing maxy and goose BJ was forced to play as a Key back. Not the best starting point to push for an onball position.
