Nicknames for Westaway
Our famous president seems like he's a nice chap, but aside from the 10 year coach fiasco a few weeks back we hear nothing from him.
So....
Howabout we call him "Casper" (the friendly ghost!)

I for one don't mind him being invisible how often do you see Costa, McMahon, Barnaba, Hart, Kelly, Sanders, Boulton even Eddie nowdays (take away media jobs).
Beside the presidents that work in the media, most of the time when you hear from club presidents is when there is trouble.
People bagged Butters for his public outings and being too out there then when we get a president who is not we bag him for being a "ghost".
Nothing wrong in what is going on now.
After that rant how about simply "Goneaway"

Interesting you ask.3rd generation saint wrote:He reminds me of a song "The sounds of silence" because we never hear from him or his administration.
By the way anyone here gone to a President's lunch pre game to hear him talk?
I haven't been myself but I had dinner on Friday night with a guy who goes regularly.
I asked him the exact same question. His response was that GW is not an inspiring speaker and tends to limit himself in speaking at these functions, but that most of the guest speakers are very good.
I asked him if the functions were well attended and he replied that most weeks they seemed to be pretty full.
Also that the Club had 'cracked down' on 'freebies' to this particular function - aparently there were quite a number of 'freebies' given away by the previous admin (the price per head is supposedtly $450 per function!).
He made the remark that there were less 'glamorous' attendees now than in previous years - apparently RB and his partner attracted a much more 'glamorous' crowd than now - more business types these days.

5 prelims in 7 years. 40 wins from 49 games.
2009 and 2010 were 2 of the 5 best years ever by the St.Kilda FC.
Thanks for all your efforts Saints.

Only about $330 with GST a head but most actually pay a bit less than that.Mr Magic wrote:Interesting you ask.3rd generation saint wrote:He reminds me of a song "The sounds of silence" because we never hear from him or his administration.

GW is what he is, a mid range business man who ran a 5th or 6th place in the market medium sized transport company. He is no Lindsay Fox or dick Pratt and doesn’t pretend to be.
I have been going to these for years and find GW on a par with RB as a public speaker. The difference with RB is he thought he was a gun and witty (emphasise the thought he was atrocious) where as GW seems to understand his limitations and work within them.
My nickname for GW is ‘Claytons’……for all of you oldies GW is the president you are having when you are not having a President.
As for our old friend raucous Roddy, well he can be seen at home games in private suite 4 where he pays $4000 per home game to entertain friends and family in private.
Proudly assuming the title of forum Oracle and serving as the inaugural Saintsational ‘weak as piss brigade’ President.
