I say, go for very fast midfielders who have strength and above average disposal skills. Go for kids. We have more than our share of recycled playershenno wrote:in the draft, what type of player...or a more experienced player, and try and trade the likes of raph, or fiora
This is not the year to be trading blokes who are ranked 18-30 on your list. If anyone wants them, they won't want to give anything up for them !!

Ok JD it is clear you are really down on RL but it should really disturb people like youself equally that the players have been publically labelled as lacking enthusiasm and energy. And don't bother posting that it is RLs fault becase that is predictable. I mean how the hell can a player lack enthusiasm to play AFL footy. It clearly signals that you think you are better than the club and I for one think that these players will be gone soon but RL wont. As I've said before some of our players are overpaid sooks.JeffDunne wrote:Why?Cairnsman wrote:players with good attitudes that have enthusiasm and energy.
So Ross can beat it out of them too?
Personally I'd prefer we picked up spirit-less hacks.
At least then Ross would have a genuine excuse.

new players
Speed and strength are key attributes to look for, as well as a bit of mongrel. I liked Heath Black because he did not take a backward step on anyone.
Heath Black would be great.
He seems to be walking a thin line at Fremantle, so will almost certainly be trade bait.
He may be a maggot but what about Brodie Holland too?

A true king is Robert Harvey.

Youth and talent, do not recruit anyone over the age of 23.
That kind of suggests you believe we will be rebuilding again for a few years.
Surely talent comes before youth. If Jonathon Brown were on the market anyone would take him.

No I wouldn't take Jonathan Brown, because he would come at too high a cost.
Yes we need to rebuild, even if we win a premiership your list must be constant state of rebuilding to the next success.
You look for players who are going to be 100 plus quality players for your club.
We have tried and tried to recruit to fill holes, post 97 and the last few years, as have many other teams and it simply does not work.

Absolutely, forget recruiting hence overpaying players from other clubs...3rd generation saint wrote:Youth and talent, do not recruit anyone over the age of 23.
We now need to develop
I have not knocked our coach "players have to be accountable" but we need flair to create and Lyon jumped in at recruiting from other clubs not unlike Sydney...

why would you go for those 2,plugger66 wrote:I would try and joel Bowden as he on the outer at the tigers and Yze may be available next season. We need to improve our depth like we have done this year. Cousins would be good as well and as we will be with Sandy next year why not try Nick Sauntner.
there old. !!!! like end of there carrers
They are younger than cousins and will be good for depth like our recruits this year.ralphysaints35 wrote:why would you go for those 2,plugger66 wrote:I would try and joel Bowden as he on the outer at the tigers and Yze may be available next season. I have actually heard that he wants to come to us so we should get a trade for him. Carlton would be mad not to take Gardiner and raph and X. We could also throw in Fizz as an extra.yearning_for_grant wrote:I like the look of Marc Murphy I saw hi mtoday. Is apparently unhappy at Carlton. Perhaps a package of the Clark brothers and Gardiner (they need a ruckman) might land us murphy if he chooses to leave.

KIDS!!
KIDS!!
AND MORE
KIDS!!!!!!!!
we wine about rejects as it is, the only way forward is by drafting and playing kids.
we were the pioneers at the begining of the decade and success followed, we divirted from this path by drafting rejects (ackland, mcgough ect)
this left us in the position we are in.
good drafting of kids currently have dogs, cats, hawks and pies dominating the competition.

I agree they would be mad not to take it, but they might play a little difficult so perhaps we'll have to throw in 2 clarkes and 2 gardiners. but that should definitely get it over the line. murphy would rejuvenate our midfield.

do not go after rejects.
we need players to us back to the successes we pioneered, Wizard up victories, the "streak", etc.
