on your CV - resume - do you declare

Post: # 584146Post saintbrat »

that you are a Saints Supporter?

whilst looking for some information I came across this written on a website that was listing the credentials of their staff
Simon is currently the 'Cycling MD' of Melbourne, enjoying the liberation that comes with a new light-weight Italian-made bike. He is also a tireless supporter of the St Kilda Football Club.
Would you declare St Kilda and how would you describe your involvement?

I would definately say it because it would show you would be passionate about the job and wouldnt quit when things got tough.

I would describe myself as a life long fan looking for the holy grail !! :D

I mention that i work voluntarily at the club for a little while doubt it helps but i have it there as a conversation piece. If they engage in footy talk i relax more.

heheheheh clever Belfast saint-- it was from a non profit site- so that could possibly be true
:D

I guess the next question would be - if you are hiring someone would it make you look again if they declared their football allegiance?

or do you look for little signs- Ie my watch is a plain gold watch but it's a saints watch and it is amazing how many kids pick up on it;;

As a Recruitment Manager I try not to be swayed by those things. No I definitely am not influenced by those sort of things. However, I do like people to be relaxed at interviews and will discuss football and the like to create a less formal environment.

Well I guess if you bike was tire-less that it would be a bit lighter

I applied for a position in a government department in 2000 and listed in my interests was the usual blah blah and " enduring the trials and tribulations of the Saints" and one of the panel members was a Kangaroos supporter who picked felt I possessed a sense of humour and the ability to deal with most things. So it can work for you being a Saints supporter.

I put it on my resume... mind so far my resume has gotten me a job in a convenience store and kmart... so it's not really saying much.

But I did mention that I have previously done volunteer work for the saints and regularly attend games. So it must be doing something for lol.

Good luck with the interview JK

I actually got a job by doing it. Turns out the CEO was a mad saints fan as well as one of the other managers.
They read my resume and I basically had the job before I turned up to the interview.

Best Job and company I ever worked for!!!!!!
