Did our best quarter actually lose it for us???

Post: # 582749Post saint66au »

We domnated the Dogs in the first quarter. 17 to 5 inside 50's, our midfield was on top, Grammy was repelling everything off half back.....but...as soon as we got inside 50 the wheels fell off.

Roo misses 2 absolute gimmes and a plethora of entrances were greeted with players out of position, no crumbers and NO FREAKING TACKLING when the ball did hit the ground

At quater time were 12 points in front..with 12 more inside 50's and one of the Dogs 2 goals clearly not a goal.

The writing was on the wall then and there. We shoud have been 8 goals in front with the amount of ball we had inside 50.

Blame defenders, blame midfielders if you must, but our forward line is an absolute rabble right now. No structure, no planning, no system and the delivery into it haphazard at best.

Vent at RL all you like, for mine John Barker must be let go at seasons end. Our forward line has gone from cannon to popgun

Why wait?

We have a perfectly capable replacement on the LTI list.

Drop Barker, let G-Train become forward coach for the remainder of '08.

The delivery into our forward line has been ordinary for 3 seasons.

And compound that with the fact that Kosi, Roo and G train are so slow that once the ball hits the deck we are uncompetitive.

People keep raving about Milne, but the fact is that when we most need him he is never there.

Saint66au - a few weeks ago I wrote about the fact that Saints supporters are basically without a voice at the footy anymore. Yes, we played well in the first quarter, yes we were ripped a goal, yes most of us knew that Roo would miss his first shot and more than likely his second. Complacency is setting in both on field and off. So called supporters will start to drift away as I discovered when chatting with fellow members today.
Others, Like you and me will stick fat but we must stop the rot somewhere.

Someone in the triple M box had a go at our banner before the game. We were running late so I did not see it. Do you know what it was?

I bet it was not inspiring to the players, I bet it was not even read by the majority of them. I posted after the Bris game that it should have had a big picture of Harves and a quote along the lines of "can you look this man in the eyes and say you are giving 100%?"

We are complacent as a football club and we will be damned to medocrity because of it.

You just mean the 1st qtr Bratty I trust?

After qtr time we couldnt hit a barn door broadside going inside 50

Totally agree on the set shots though. Killed us totally. All of Buddy's 9 last night were harder than the 2 Roo missed in the 1st quarter
