St Kilda announced on Thursday night at its hall of fame induction ceremony that it has made the only premiership coach in its history Allan Jeans a legend of the club.
Jeans, who played 77 games for the Saints before masterminding the club's solitary grand final triumph in 1966, joins past champions Darrel Baldock and Ian Stewart as the Saints' only official legends.

Well done to Jeansy.

And well done to the twelve.

I reckon there are a few unlucky ones.
But I guess there is always next time.

Knocking on the door must be
- Cazaly
- Cumberland
- Cunningham (not Daryl)
- Sarau (not Mark)
- Trott
- Young Bill, and
- Young George

And I guess it is too early yet.
But the day will surely come when we also honour
- Burkie
- Jones (not Bob)
- Peckett, and
- Thommo

So there pretty much is the nominations for next time !

you will need to give me His history with the saints :)

and there is a - time out of the game- factor - so many years- so I guess Frankie and Aussie and Thommo will be there eventually

I do wonder if they will- waive - that factor when one R Harvey eventually moves off the field for the final time.- just because it will be about 30 years after he started :)

Played a couple of seasons back in the 90s.
Not a bad player.

But certainly NOT a legend.

Of more relevance,

Did anyone go to the HoF night ?

Can you give us a run down of the format and highlights ?

Thanks in anticipation.

Well done and thank you to those people who were inducted. Take a bow!

I was really glad to see that one of our administrators was recognized too... I don't know much about the administrators of the past, but of course they must have contributed a lot to our club... it's good to hear about them and the things they did for the club.

Jeans received a standing ovation as he walked to the stage at the St Kilda function and said he had no idea before arriving that the Saints would elevate him to legend status.

Renowned as an orator, he spoke powerfully for more than 10 minutes about the need for the club to maintain its faith and what is needed to win a premiership.

"Personally I would just like to thank the club for honouring me in such a manner," he said.

"I didn't know until I walked in here tonight and saw my family. I am deeply honoured."

I attended the HoF last night - really enjoyable night. Would definitely go again. The night was really well organised - ran very smoothly. Well done to the organisers. Food was great, service excellent. Listening to the inductess tell their stories was great - gave me a much better appreciation of our club and it's past. Allan Jeans was amazing - spoke so well - and off the cuff. No wonder he took our club to a premiership.

The only downside to the night - two idiots on our table who seem to only be interested in where their next beer was. Despite those around them asking them to to be quiet, they chatted throughout Jean's whole speech. So disrespectful - wonder why they bothered to attend at all really.

Probably a junket given to them by their boss or something like that - and they were only really there for the free grog!!!

Pardon my ignorance but has big Stewie Buckets Loewe been inducted to our hall of fame yet? If not must be a shoe in next year, what about Spud Frawely?
Geez I'd give an Agate to have those 2 boys playing again at the moment, fully fit and fired up. Decent backman with guts and a leading forward who'd have a crack anywhere from 50 out with a good set of hands and not a prima donna

Followed Saints since '71
Sir Robert Harvey was my favorite player
Stewie Lowe and Plugger before that.
Loved watching Rooey and Jack Steven
Now looking forward to the future

Some people make things happen, some people watch things happen, but most just say " What the f#&k happened!".
