Poor Attendance

Post: # 579267Post Ice Wolf »

27,854 attendance for the Melbourne match.

Clearly this is not good enough, yes i know it was looking like a bad day in the morning but I think we should see 30,000 as a minimum. What does everybody else think?

I reckon I saw more people wearing the colours of other teams (like Richmond for some reason) than I did wearing Melbourne gear.

I wouldn't include that horrible clash strip as "Melbourne gear".

Melbourne's is possibly the worst clash strip I have ever seen.

back on topic numb nuts, pre game I predicted 28K, so was pretty close to the mark.

Gotta remember a lot of Dees "supporters" are MCC members and they have to pay normal GA to get into TD, and hate the place.

Also, our crap effort against Brisbane prob. dropped the number by 2K.

Add to that Sunday arvo, which often is not a good drawing day, and that gives you an expected shyte crowd figure.

Our bandwagon has GORRRNE!!!

Also, supporters of other clubs don't go to watch boring, lockdown, chip-lotto footy when they go watch other footy played with a bit of flair. Could become quite an issue with our crowd figures and scheduled "blockbusters".

There is definitely a problem. I sit on Level 2 in the Saints reserve and there has been a steady thinning out of people sitting in these seats since last year. On Sunday I reckon one in four seats were empty.

These seats are pre-paid so people are deciding to do something else rather than go to entertainment they have already paid for.

I know someone is going to write something along the lines of "Well f'em if they're not real supporters" but I think they pay something like $440 a year for membership & seats. This would be a pretty big income stream for the club.

In fact the Melbourne Cricket Club has a reciprocal arrangement with Telstra Dome's Access One.
MCC members can book online with Ticketmaster and get Level 2 Access One seats at $29.50

They don't need to sit in "outer space" seating on level 3.

The amount of seating available to Access One seems to vary depending on home teams Level 2 reserved seating and Telstra Dome preferring to sell some Level 2 seats at a higher price to the general public until late in the week.

Against Collingwood all Access One seating had gone before online bookings were accepted but this should not have been a problem with the Melbourne game.

There are empty seats at every game this year. They have already been paid for. $40 each.

Do you think these people are renewing next year?

Most junior comps play on Sunday.

I know at least 10 regular Sainters who could not go because their kids were playing.

From Row F on Level 3 I heard Banger scream at a Dees player trying to put him off as he marked on the boundary below us. Also heard players calling for the ball a couple of times

Not sure if Ive ever heard that from L3 before
