Why not play him forward?

He can mark and can kick a set shot. A better set shot than Roo (from the few shots he's had at goal) and can kick 50metres. Can also cover some ground.

I mean sure he's a good defender, but we also need to kick some goals.

I just think its an idea to mix some things up.

Not sure about that. Anyway he is now a backman. We need to improve our strengths not try to create things that have little hope of working.

From memory he was touted as a HFF when we got him.

However he is now an ELITE backmen (or rather an elite back flanker)...so leave him there.

However he is at his best on a flank rather than as a KPB.

He is alos one of our few backman that gives us drive.

Can't see the point in that. With the backline injuries, it would be madness to take one of the two best players and put him on the forward line.

Good idea I'm for giving him a run down there and a few more to be tried elsewhere Sam can easlily go back there in a couple of weeks if it doesn't work Also Roo on a wing, and try ALL our scorpions in the weeks to follow
6, 7, or 8 in September will be worthless, when we can possibly pick up the last semblence of anything good available through the draft in the near future down lower
The Dees should be able to kick a better score than us next week then it should be smooth sailing all downstream until the end of the season
We won't even be accused of tanking!

We need to keep Fisher as a key defender. Hudghton will retire soon, Maguire has a long road to recovery and we don't have another key defender on our playing list.

What we need to do is free him up so we can utilise his run and he

normally finds a good option.

...and to do that we need to find one or two key defenders to replace Hudghton (after he retires) and Maguire (until he returns). That would allow Fisher to play as the 3rd tall and give us that run we so badly lack.

if we didnt have a lack of key backs fish could push forward.
but i think our failing forward line is caused by our delivery and movement into it not personal.
we are too slow entering the 50 which gives the opposition time to push back. during our successfull period uner gt we took the game on with run and quick delivery into our forward 50 which enabled 1on1 contests or a quick break for our forwards to win on the lead. we now specialise in holding the ball up with slow movement and kick into attack where it is extremely crowded giving our forwards no chance at all.
taking a bit from sam newman" footy's a simple game, get the ball be direct and get it to your forwards QUICKLY". he may be on to something there!

he doesnt have to play the whole game forward, maybe 5 min spells here and there

i know hes a good defender, but we do need something up forward, no point saving goals if you cant kick them yourself

We have 2 better forwards up there already and they cant get it. Why would a guy who has never played there in the AFL all of a sudden get the ball.

well these two better forwards arent kicking goals.....

kosi and roo miss too many gettable shots
fishers a good kick, and a solid mark, and covers more ground

He played his first couple of games with StKilda on the forward line and couldn't get near it.......

Agree with first thread Fisher was recruited as a forward but Gehrig and co. made it so we didnt require him down forward Oh how they were wrong i have seen him kick goals before he was a saint and he creams all over ROO , Kosi , And Gehrig .This boy can kick goals .Also Jason Gram was a noted Goal kicker why put these guys in the back line give games up forward we cant fail anymore than what we fail now .

FFS what would that leave our backline looking like? Maxy running back and forward between KPPs? What about next year if Macy goes? Robbing Peter to pay Paul. No chance.

I thought he looked completely disinterested yesterday

I know Gram has copped heaps here lately but realisitically #25 has flown under the radar.

Compared to his form of the last two years he has been under performing
