Ok I know that there are already about 10 threads on a similar topic but after a shocking loss like that the board always turns to sh1t anyways so here we go...
There are some players who simply should not play another game for the club...
L.Fisher
Fiora
Dempster
Blake
C.Gardiner
Gehrig (unless it is a goodbye game)
The players that must come in for those IMO are...
Raph
Xavier (assuming he's fit)
Armitage
Allen
McEvoy
and if their form continues
McQualter
Ferguson
I think we should save Jack Steven until next season...
This will give us a starting 22 looking like...
FB: Geary Hudghton Baker
HB: Gram S.Fisher Goddard
C: Xavier Dal Santo Montagna
HF: Schneider Allen Riewoldt
FF: Milne Koschiztke Birss (tagging)
R: King/Gardiner Hayes Ball
I/C: McEvoy Harvey Armitage Raph
McEvoy is not up to it yet but I think we should persist with him as a second ruckman on a rotational basis, one week we should go King/ McEvoy, the next week Gardiner/ McEvoy and then King/ Gardiner, this way each ruckman will play 2 out of every 3 games, It might cost us a bit this season but it will be worth it in the long run.
IMO if we play this lineup and go out trying to win every game, playing with an attacking gameplan and play with passion we will finish about 10th, it may seem like a terrible position to finish but IMO getting some wins is better for the development of the younger players then bringing in a number one draft pick.
As sad as it may be Harvey and Hudghton are probably gone at seasons end which would make next years prospects very unlikely...
We need to evaluate which players we can believe will be there in our next premiership charge and unless they are there (or serve some other purpose, such as leadership) they must be put on the trading table...
IMO these players include...
Gram (pick 20ish), Ferguson (pick 80ish), Gwilt (pick 70ish), Dempster (pick 60ish), C.Gardiner (pick 70ish), Birss (pick 50ish) etc. etc., I would hope that we could do some double deals such as the 'bargain' we got with Schneider and Dempster...
Next year could be ugly, our starting lineup for mine would look like...
FB: Raph Gilbert Baker
HB: Goddard S.Fisher Geary
C: Xavier Dal Santo Montagna
HF: Schneider Allen Riewoldt
FF: Steven Koschitzke Milne
R: King/ Gardiner Hayes Ball
I/C: McEvoy Armitage (Eddy/McQualter) Our First Draft pick
This could see us being a bottom 4 team but we really do have to rebuild, and we have to act fast, if we hold off we will be screwed over by the new teams raping the draft, it would put off our next challenge by a good 5 years, which would completely rule out Roo, Kosi, Hayes etc. from getting a flag aswell....
Some tough years ahead but it's better then treading water before having to rebuild on someone else's terms...
