He said we were soft and this also reflected on the coaches.....so players and coaches were collectively poor.st.byron wrote:Anyone hear Lyon's press conference? I missed it.

i cannot undestand the gibberish garbage that comes out of his mouth.
I turn him off after a win, not alone a loss.
Lyon and his muppets out.

I think Lyon has succumb to the pressure being applied by the footy world in regards to his Sydney like tactics. That's definetly gone out the window in recent weeks. They're trying to be more attacking, however they've forgotten one thing, pressure!!?? There is zero accountability being applied now,we were a good tackling side, suddenly we are the worst of all time. One extreme to the other.
It's all well and good to be more attacking, and that's what we all wanted, however trying to be attacking without putting one ounce of pressure on the other side is going to backfire catostrophically like it did today.
Lyon's back is to the wall right now, time for him to find something and get something out of this outfit, otherwise he'll be back as an assistant at Sydney next year. And he can take a few players with him!

Soft i didnt think we were SOFT before he arrived here.. RL has to explain why we have gone soft and remedy itsaintsRrising wrote:He said we were soft and this also reflected on the coaches.....so players and coaches were collectively poor.st.byron wrote:Anyone hear Lyon's press conference? We have been soft pretty much all year! What the hell is he doing as coach to make them tougher and has he only just noticed the softness? Telling them to play negative footy and mumbling to them in the huddle at 1/4 ,1/2, and 3/4 time isn't going to make a difference. If he was clear in his diction and had volume in his words maybe the boys would hear what his message is and not have to make it up in their own minds. He has shown no leadership or coaching ability either year he has been in charge. Time for him to admit he isn't a very good coach and join GT, Tim Watson, Graham Jellie, Ken Shaldon, Stan Alves, Malcolm Blight, Mike Patterson, Baldock, Jezza on the past St. Kilda coaches bench and give another poor sod a crack at trying to make this club a respected one on field not a laughing stock.

G-train hasnt got the energy to do it anymore .. hamil is gone ... aussie is gone ... bakes has been neutered cause he know if he shows any agro hes out fro 3 weeks ... Black was a traitor and burkie isdoing what exactly on the board ?

we may have soft players but theres no need to call the whole team soft.
ball, hayes, harvs, max and few others give there all for the club and still get labled. why doesnt ross sought through his squad and single out the marshmellows because they are the ones costing this team any kind of success. also addressing the softness issue by bringing in fiora for armitage speaks for itself.

I think Lyon is confused himself about the gameplan, due to the negative response he has copped this season. I am sure he came to StKilda with a Sydney gameplan, only to see it not working. He is now trying to chop and change things and I think he is confusing not only the players, but also himself. I was at the game today, and if anyone can work out what they were trying to do out there let me know. Forget the last quarter, Brisbane put the brakes on, probably due to how hard they had run all day on a reasonably warm day, and St Kilda kicked a lot of "Junk" goals in the last quarter. A very dissapointing display. I can handle a loss, and I've seen many over the years, but I dont believe their hearts are in it at the moment. Maybe its a confidence thing, maybe it something more, but its extremely dissapointing to watch a side that just hasnt come on, but actually gone backwards.

couldn't be any worse without him than they are with him.maverick wrote:Apparently he has put himself on the LTI list, and if no improvement is shown in his footy smarts, game plan, player management, decision making ability and general personality, he will step down and let the players coach themselves.

That's about the only thing RL has got right so farplugger66 wrote:He did say he doubts GT's prediction that we could win 2 flags in the next 10 years.st.byron wrote:guys, understand everyone's frustration and agree with a lot of what's being said. But can anyone actually report on anything he said after the game apart from the bit about being soft?
