what form? Struggled to do the basics of mark, kick and handpass for casey. Wasn't in the best 10 IMO. This is no knock on him, just that his form currently means I raise an eyebrow over his inclusion even on an extended bench.saintsrus wrote:Seems getting form for Casey doesnt count for this clubSolar wrote:

Now is not the time to cut Charlie Gardiner...a hard-working mobile forward has a poor week or two and then goneski?
Yet Jones gets a recall? But Allen is left out? And Dempster/L Fisher/Blake are retained? And McEvoy is still in the VFL?
I wish I could be critical and furious, but increasingly, I can only laugh.

who would allen or mcenvoy come in for? We already have two tall forwards in kosi and roo. Fergusson is in good form and comes in for a struggling charlie.evertonfc wrote:Now is not the time to cut Charlie Gardiner...a hard-working mobile forward has a poor week or two and then goneski?

bigmac will learn to ruck in the VFL and might get a couple down the track. Allen will get a chance but picked the wrong week, if roo wasn't playing he would get a gig.
Fisher and blake did a good job last week and it's not certain dempster will play, neither jones.

Isnt Dempster in the starting 18. They dont drop them from the 18 to often. Would suggest baring injury he is certain to play.Solar wrote:who would allen or mcenvoy come in for? 'mcenvoy' for Blake (shot ducks in a barrel last week).
Has everyone forgotten that Brisbane has a ruck division or something?
Same story every time.bergsone wrote:At least CJ comes in after showing good form
Dominates the VFL, gets completely shown up in the AFL.
He's 24. He's not going to improve.

How little run do you want our team to have. I think 2 ruckman are enough.evertonfc wrote:Allen for C Gardiner.Solar wrote:who would allen or mcenvoy come in for?evertonfc wrote:Now is not the time to cut Charlie Gardiner...a hard-working mobile forward has a poor week or two and then goneski?

as mentioned earlier, allen is a different type of forward and therefore would make our forward line too tall and bulky. Fergi gives us an in form medium good marking forward.evertonfc wrote:Allen for C Gardiner.Solar wrote:who would allen or mcenvoy come in for?evertonfc wrote:Now is not the time to cut Charlie Gardiner...a hard-working mobile forward has a poor week or two and then goneski?

Blake will play down back or defensive wing on the likes of brennan most likely. Not sure how we could carry 4 ruckman in one team.
So you want the team to be
Rucks: Gardiner, king
Forwards: roo, kosi, macenvoy, allen
And I thought the 3 forward set up was lumbering!

WTF?Solar wrote:And I thought the 3 forward set up was lumbering!
Who says you play them all at once?
Allen can play back if you need him, Riewoldt might need to be moved up the ground, etc.
It's just such a shame we're so rigid. Players should be swung where the game needs them; Riewoldt on a wing would be fantastic - and would save him from a lot of the aerial contests.
Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.
So in Allen's first game we put him back where has really never played. Surely that would be completely unfair on him. And again we want to move our best forward so we can fit lesser forwards in. I dont understand that.evertonfc wrote:WTF?Solar wrote:And I thought the 3 forward set up was lumbering!

Re: Official Team - INS and OUTS
Given that we're going to cut 3 from our 7 man bench, i'd have the bench as.
Int in: Michael Gardiner, Matthew Ferguson, Clint Jones, David Armitage
Int gone: Andrew McQualter, Jarryn Geary, Aaron Fiora

ahhh I'm sounding like plugger66 but you want to play allen down back when he has been playing as a forward since being drafted and looks a natural forward.....evertonfc wrote:WTF?Solar wrote:And I thought the 3 forward set up was lumbering!

Also if you don't play them all at once you lose heaps of run off the bench. Lots on here were critical when we did that with gehrig, roo and kosi early in the year.
Yes perhaps in hindsight allen should have got a game ahead of gehrig when G was dropped the first time but wasn't.

You do understand that our first choice CHB isn't playing this weekend, right?plugger66 wrote:So in Allen's first game we put him back where has really never played. Sometimes you have to adjust your defence for the opposition.
I'm not sure Max and SF will be enough, and the prospect of Blake taking to the field is a terrifying prospect.

So we put a guy there who has never played there. Well at least he has an easy job J Brown.evertonfc wrote:You do understand that our first choice CHB isn't playing this weekend, right?plugger66 wrote:So in Allen's first game we put him back where has really never played. I never said he'd go to Brown. I said he can play in defence. He's a bit green, sure, but we don't have a decent third tall defender.plugger66 wrote:Well at least he has an easy job J Brown.
And against Brisbane, I think you need one who can help out while the other two are stretched.

i think moving riewoldt to wing for a while might actually increase his goals output.plugger66 wrote:And again we want to move our best forward so we can fit lesser forwards in. I dont understand that.
he can cover so much ground that there would be no holding him there and he'd be potentially devastating freed from the shackles.
just imagine the luxury for him of not having to contend with two or three guys on him every time.

Why did you mention our CHB was missing then? Where could he play in the backline the? He isnt very quick so he couldnt be HBF or a BP.evertonfc wrote:I never said he'd go to Brown. Why...Mini has been by all accounts playing very well at Casey and deserves another chance...not his biggest fan on past efforts but lets see where the kids at... before he is retained or delisted!stinger wrote:saint patrick wrote:Like the ins ...last chance for Macqualter and Fiora
that's just nonsense ffs.....
Fiora has been added as a running player to offset Raphs ommission.I have been critical of Aaron as well...but he has some skills and if his form warrants give him a go...
As I said both players would be on their last few chances....
wouldn't have thought that qualifies as nonsense

Errr, because he is going to be out for the rest of the year, meaning our KPP defensive stocks are down to one, solitary full-time defender?plugger66 wrote:Why did you mention our CHB was missing then?
That is an issue. At least to me.
If you play Sam Fisher as a KPP, he reguarly struggles. It's just his nature that he likes to break free and run.
Given that Brisbane have two excellent KPPs, I think going S Fisher and Max just isn't enough. Personally, I'd float Allen as the extra man to give them both support.
Actually, I'd have Riewoldt at CHB to slit them by the throat. They'd never get it past him. But Lyon is so paralysed with fear at the prospect of that, even though he's played some oustanding footy there.
Could Allen play as a third tall defender who helps double-team Brown and Bradshaw, depending on the situation? I think he can.
I think a shoot-out could see us lose by 10 goals. We must shut down their goal-scoring options.
Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.
