Matt Maguire press conference 4pm monday

Post: # 564797Post B W and R all over »

Might just be because a lot of media have asked for him.

But in the back of my mind I'm wondering if it might be an announcement.

possibly, but i don't think they would call a press conference for that, they would just notify the AFL.

If he retires so be it......who could blame him?

Hate it turn into another Hamill saga, for his sake and the clubs.

It's bad news, whatever way you want to look at it.....

play it down all you like, but to me it will be a great shame. maguire at his best is a real asset and whilst we havent seen it for some time, i would just put him on the LTI list and give it onelast crack.

hopefully its just 'light news' to 'clean up the rumours'

Goose is going on the long term injury list, st kilda are going to take care of their own, with a strong rehab program and player ***** has been elevated from the rookie list.

hopefully

Pretty sure it will be that but with no rookie elevated.

that is understandable..
there is no poin in elevating a rookie if they are no chancer of getting a game.

In that case...I would back he being made LTI...with more details on his foot injury.

Rookie elevation...you would think only be made if the selection panel was actually going to play someone. Mini would seem to be only candidate at present. With X out...there is a chance of that as Mini has been in good form.

Retirement??
Draft picks/trades etc are a way off....so I don't think that there is any advantage to him, or for the club, announcing a "retirement" now unless his foot was dramatically found to be worse than has been indicated in the media.

From the medical site metatarsal's are very difficult to make accurate predications about in terms of player returns. So I would expect that part to be vague...unless they found some major damage.....or another problem.

When I was 50, I was stuck down with psoriatic arthritis, I went on my own long term injured list and retired.
I did not call a press conference - but then I was not a footballer and nobody gave a brass rarzoo except me.
