Did Fiora play most of the other 3 quarters??saintbrat wrote:didn't hear Armo's name- Blake was rested.mick13 wrote:Did Armo play, didnt hear his name mentioned at all?
Also, was anyone on the bench for the second half lol?
Fiora played last quarter so not rested.
scorps gained 25% .
I guess the question is which players had low Time On Ground.
It sounds like Blake was one......with Goose and Max both out Blake is a logical in to play down back.
Roo and X are both definat outs.
If the club physio is correct...King will be an in.
That would suggest a repacement for X with King and Blake.
CJ, Geary or possibly Ferg if they want someone to play forward. Fiora is alos a possible if they want to replace X's pace and run. Remember that when Schneider and X were put on the wings in the second half that we looked better against the Tigers.
The other variable is whethen Allen would replace GTrain as a forward tall.
If King is not an in, then Kosi may ruck and so Allen could come in with GTrain at FF...Allen at CHF.

I was at the game today,Ferguson was much more impressive down forward than Allen,Fergy did well in contested situations whereas Allen seemed to be struggling to get into the game...
Mc Evoy takes a nice grab and appears to be a good player,he seems to have a build similar to Josh Fraser so i don't see why he won't debut soon for the Saints.....
Even big Rixy looked ok and he took some good marks in a contest and kicked ok,if only he could play like that in the AFL.....
Fisher wasn't bad,Geary looked ok,Howard doesn't look the player Stevens is and Stevens has a great build for a young lad, could step up this year as well if his commitments allow it ..
Gwilt has a great kicking boot,i hope he can develop his game a bit more but i don't know how long they will persevere with him..
I went out to the huddle at quarter time and listened to Hutchison give his address,he singled out Fiora for his effort on Lappin in the first quarter and he told Fergy and Allen to present more,it turned out that Fergy got that message better than Allen..
Has anyone seen Casey's physio, she is quite an attractive girl......
Teague struggled,i don't think the playing Coach role is working for the
Bullants,Lappin seems to do a bit of coaching out there as well, mostly yelling at blokes to "MAN UP".

I have liked the way McEvoy has been around the ground...but his actual ruckwork looked raw in the games I have seen.
How was his ruckwork today?

good to hear they went on with it.
So it seems like blake will come in for maguire to play down back. Toss up between geary and cj for that extra running midfield spot that x's injury has opened up. Personally I would go with geary. Better skills and smart around the football. But cj keeps working his arse off.
Then it comes down to king if fit or bigmac otherwise. Can't have a forward line of charlie and fergi and allen is not ready just yet. Bring in a ruck so that kosi can take CHF with charlie as his leading cut out further up the ground.
love stevens already. Can kick a goal and is very clever. Howard seems to do alot that is not noticed. Could become a deceint run with midfielder or backman down the track and is still worth persisting with.

He definitely stayed at Full Forward for most of the 2nd quarter but for the other quarters he seemed to roam between FF and the middle,I'm not sure if he moves further out when Allen goes off the ground and moves back when Allen comes back on,i didn't study it intensely.saintsRrising wrote:Out of interest where did Ferg play???

well I would assume they are not being dropped since both were named in the team before the bounce of the match last saturday night.saintbrat wrote:Armitage and Raph didn't play so could one assume they will be ins for next week- along with blake who was rested?
It was not a great game to test our backline replacements. With SOS and wall in such great form at HB the ball never really pressed forward, especially in the first half.

I only saw the first half but was very impressed with Ferguson in the forward line. Was flying for the mark everytime the ball came near him. Also missed a few set shots early on, so could have ended up with even more goals.
As Cain Ackland was coming off the ground during the 2nd quarter he had a bit of a shove with 2 of the Casey players coming on. Must be frustrating playing for a side that at that stage didn't even have a major on the board.
Got there just as the siren went to end the reserves & noticed the Eljay had an ice pack on his shoulder as they were walking off so not sure what he has done.
All the coaching panel were there along with Archie Fraser.

I mean if you were a Saints player at Casey...knowing that all the senior coaches are there has to be extra motivation to impress = player encouragement.
With Coaches it allows them to gain a much better idea of what needs to be worked on at training rather than just relying on indirect reports = player development.
I always thought it odd that the previous coaching group by and large ignored Casey matches.

there appear to be very few games that the coaching panel in some shape or form do not make,
and the benefit of having the Casey Coach on satff at Moorabbin and actually onsite at Moorabbin would appear to be having a positive affect on the casey team.

We had a bye this week so everyone could watch Casey which they did and that is great.
How many times during the previous coaching group's time was there a bye so they could do the same?
It really is time you moved on and balanced out.
...most ppple have forgotten but fergie was a full forward in the under 18's...and he filled that position in the victorian team too......
.everybody still loves lenny....and we always will
