Depends which way you look at it.....why have we no reps in the final 50 selected? Injuries, sure, but so do all clubs, so that's not a full on excuse.
Brown-coat is actually right IMO.
As it is an exhibition match, there should be some rules in place like play on when kicking backwards to avoid too much flooding.
I want to see a 40 goal game shootout.
Anyway, no Saints players, let's just hope a few Pies and Brissie players get nicely touched up!!!

"It's a huge honour and a thrill, firstly, to be playing with the boys and meet a lot of the guys for the first time and you don't get to mingle with these people very often. Secondly to be on the MCG is great, as being a St Kilda player we don't get here very often, so to be out here and running around with the boys is just a huge thrill and an honour."

They will all get a watch worth 3 grand aswell
100 percent behind the saints 100 percent of the time
We have a lot of talented players who are down on form. Reiwoldt is automatic selection when uninjured, and Dal Santo was selected, and just at risk not to play.brown-coat wrote:Just wait one moment..
WE HAVE THe most talented list on paper!! No players in the Vic squad?
Don't make no sense! We should have at least 3. So much talent oozing from our paper list.
Max Hudghton was robbed. Lenny Hayes would have been very close to selection, and probably deserves it.
If his groin was back in shape, which it isn't (yet), Ball would be an automatic selection.
If in good form, which he's not, Jason Gram could easily be there.
Blindly delusional optimist. Fan of the Blake.

Am I missing something really obvious here?
Are people really disappointed that there are now no Saints in the teams?
I am over the moon that we cannot possibly have another player out by turning up for the farce that I call the "Imminent Injury Cup".
It has no kudos whatsoever, it is a PR driven rubbish exhibition match played out on behalf of Andy and his sidekick.
Chips, Lenny et al are way above those other players, but I am rapt the selectors see them as below, and couldn't give a rats about the fact they are seen that way.
This game has as much credibility as James Hird winning 3 "Anzac Medals" when the Anzac Day match is between two teams only.

If Dal doesn't play, and it looks like he won't, that will be a shame. It would have been very nice to see where Mark Thompson would put him and how high he rates him against some of the best in the comp. I also would have liked to see Dal get a run (presumably) without a tight tagger for once. I think most coaches in the league rate Dal our best mid, so I'm not all that surprised he was selected, despite any indications of form.
If he misses it will be the first time since round 14, 2003 that he's missed a game. Since then he's become one of the most dangerous mids in the game, and while he has yet to win the respect of certain Saintsational posters and newspaper writers, he's at least got opposition coaches scared enough to put their best taggers on him every week. Given his elite ball skills, the game on Sat night will be worse without him. Hopefully whatever is ailing him will be right for round 8. I don't know how much worse we'd be without him and I don't want to find out.

Yeah nah pleasing positive
But it's not a game.vacuous space wrote:If he misses it will be the first time since round 14, 2003 that he's missed a game.
It's not worth four points.
It's not Big V v SA/WA State of Origin.
It's not even NAB Cup worthy.
How can it possibly be regarded as his first missed match since then?
It is a game he has no chance to be injured in.
That makes me smile.

Injury is a possibility if he's playing or not. It's a game he could have found some form in, given the relative space he'd probably get compared to the average Saints match. He could have had a few kicks, yucked it up with some of today's greats and come back better for the experience. He might be better off with a week off though - I don't know. I would have liked to see him play though.Iceman234 wrote:It is a game he has no chance to be injured in.
