Hi everyone! Just thought I'd post both responses I have recieved from both the reception at St.Kilda and Archie Fraser!
"Not a problem I will make sure that Goose gets the messages and best wishes from all the well wishers at Saintsational.
I am sure he will appreciate the support.
Regards
Archie
Archie Fraser"
&&
"Thanks for the great email I have forwarded it directly to Goose and I am sure he will appreciate everyone's kind thoughts and encouragement.
Cheers!
Robyn Brown"
So it looks like Goose has recieved our messages! Thanks so much to everyone who sent a comment for him and I am really excited that the club responded so quickly and efficiently! Lets hope it's effective!
I know this is my first time posting and I am a new member but I was absolutely blown away by the enthusiasm towards sending messages to Matt Maguire (obviously encouragement towards his recovery after his season-ending injury) and decided to sign up to the site and initiate a post where members could post there well wishes.
All messages, long or short, are accepted (granted they are positive and encouraging)- just to let him know that the supporters are behind him. Probably this monday is the cut off, as then I will gather all the posts in this thread and send them to the club, in hopes that they will be passed on to goose himself.
It isn't often that supporters get to send positive re-enforcement along to the players themselves and I'm sure it would be appreciated
If you don't want to post your messages directly on the thread, please PM them to me
Edit: My email address was wrong on my profile, so please, if you've sent me a response, can you please re-send it as a PM. sorry

good idea
I notice there are a couple up on Saintscentral.com too
we used to post threads of well wishes more regulalrly on here but they tend to get highjacked more readily these days- people feel the need to post their negative vibes everywhere.
Take your time
build your strength
and come back to Thrill us some again
Thanks so much! I really hope the members of this forum send there well wishes as I have met him and he seems like a genuine and kind person who deserves the support of the members of the club.
Goose- Hang Tough. You are a star and you know you're good enough. Best Wishes.

Have a rest.
And get yourself right.
Do what the medicos tell you.
Think big picture.
You've got 200 fantastic games left in you.
So don't overdo things to rush back early.
You're a star.
Give yourself every chance to make a long term impact on this club's history.
The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
They can even WATCH LIVE FOOTY!
two endearing memories I have of goose is standing up against the pies when we were getting a thrashing and copping what seem to be blow after blow
and running down johncock.
I really enjoy a player who can stand up and tack a mark under pressure, and show courage over the ball that folks think is easy but IMO isnt.
Cheers Goose
all the best and look forward to seeing you in the RW&B next year, tearing apart opposition forward lines and driving the ball long into our forward line.
Bewaire krime, da krimson bolt is comeing to yure nayborhood to smach krime
goose, i'd like to say don't give it away ... but then again i'm not the one who has to cope with the crushing disappointments of injuries and the long and painful rehabs.
in footballing terms it is a tragedy that your body hasn't let you return to your irresistible, barnstorming form of a couple of years ago.
i still dream of seeing it again as many, perhaps even you, have forgotten just how good you can be.
Matt I love the way you play. I know this set back is hard to take, but hang in there. You are one of my favourite Saints, I have watched you develop. Just look at Nathan Brown. You are a better footballer than he is, and he has bounced back. Take your time, rest and know that we are all wishing you well. We need you there when we win our next flag.
Most people achieved their greatest success one step beyond what looked like their greatest failure.
Our time is now! Please let it be 2012!
this is an excellent idea. hopefully rodgerfox and others from the other thread re: gooses injury post what they said, cos, especially rodgerfox's response was really uplifting.
"
Matt- For the past 99 games we have seen you give your all on field. We have seen you combat injuries with a lot of courage and for that you are a prominent leader at the club. There should be more people like you on field and we are all looking forward to your 2009 return.
Take this time off and use it to get yourself right so that next year we can see at your best again.

Goose's best asset was (hopefully will be again) his confidence.
Goose wouldn't just prevent his man from marking - he'd outmark him. He did this late on the game against Richmond, and my eyes lit up. I hadn't seen that from him since 05. I thought we may get to see him reach his best.
Goose wasn't just an elite stopper, he was damaging.
Some facts on Goose for the dickheads who claim this pathetic bulls*** about 'the game passing him by' (I mean really, with Geelong winning the flag by 20 goals playing good old fashioned footy, you'd think people would learn that the game doesn't really change much at all - let alone within 2 years)....
He was quick, fast and very strong. He'd break lines and put us into attack instantly. With our forward setup at the time, we'd have at least one marking target plonked in the 50 and at least crumber at their feet. The game hasn't passed Goose by in this regard, he's just only played about 5 games under our new game plan. As a team we've played 30 odd, and still can't get it right.
He would kick goals from CHB.
He was aggressive and intimidating.
He would take the game on.
His scalps include Lucas, Rocca, Croad, Brown (well, he 'contained' him), Mooney, Hall and many others considered to be elite.
He played out 2004 injured. He had OP.
He didn't get a pre-season in 05 and played accordingly. As Goose started to come good, so did we.
He did his hip in R21 in 05 and was cactus for the finals.
He still had OP in 2006. This affected his speed greatly.
He broke his leg in 06 and hasn't been back since - effectively.
He was tough and courageous.
Goose was one of the main factors behind our 'streak' in 04, and his injuries coincide almost identically to our form since 2004.
I read that people think he's a bit up himself and a bit of a knob. Well, to be honest I want to see more arrogance from some of our guys on the field - and off it if it helps!
Most of the best sportsmen of all time have been incredibly arrogant. Some say you need to be.
Goose,
To this day I can still shut my eyes and see you bursting through the middle of the MCG on a beautiful, sunny Melbourne afternoon kicking those long, straight, team lifting goals.
Best of luck with the recovery mate, no matter what happens we'll all remember you as a tough, fearless and most importantly loyal Sainter.
Good on you mate.
