i guess this is probably for the best, re: his form, will allow him to have a proper break and attempt a full pre-season injury-free. i just hope he doesnt give it away before then. would be a shame as, when he is in form, he is an excellent player and is still young.
IMO perhaps his best option is getting a trade to the new Gold Coast club and hope that the warmer weather is better for his dodgy body and can be a half decent footballer again.
Certainly playing in the cooler climes of Melbourne on the hard TD surface can't be a good thing for his longer term footy ambitions.

Really do love that guy, heart breaking to see him suffer ANOTHER season ending injury. Just hoping he comes back stronger and better because he really is worth it. Good luck Goose
the last thing ST Kilda needs is for our 'depth' players to be elevated ahead of promising youngsters.
Birss is borderline, Ferguson is very borderline IMO, L Fisher and Blake and C Gardiner worthy as depth players, but Fiora, McQualter, Rix, Dempster, Jones (and last year Watts and Brooks) are not good enough, and it's frightening to consider that at exactly the wrong time for St Kilda, given our recruiting record, we're in the position where we don't want to be when the draft is taken away by the 2 new teams. They MUST promote young guys from the rookie list, and start playing Geary, Eddy, Allen, even McEvoy if they need, ahead of the 'depthers.' If we come out of this year with Eddy, Armitage, Geary, Gwilt, maybe Allen having a decent first year out, we'll look a lot better than if we swung Fiora, Rix, Dempster in and out of the team. I also can't see Maguire playing again, unfortunately. the injuries are too serious, and it will have been well over 2 years since he last played a decent match, by the end of this year. Sadly, next year we look like being without Hudghton and Goose, as well as Harvey. It's time to consider now as well as look forward - a rehashed 27 year old can bring something for a year or two (King, Gardiner) if they proved good enough.
A 17 year old from nowhere can be hit or miss. But St Kilda's record with rehashed 21-25 year olds has been dismall: McGough, Fiora, Dempster, Watts being cases in point
It would be nice to know how and when he broke it. In particular, whether it was another injury related to his broken leg, which I think is what they said about his first foot problem.
i just hope goose doesnt follow the same suit as luke penny, who retired at 24 due to a chronic knee injury- as we all know he is a very capable player (though there are a lot of people on this forum who have been saying otherwise recently and are looking to get rid of him).
goose is contracted till end of 2009, so unless he decides to call it quits himself, i think he may give it a go next year and leave then if his body breaks down again. also, it should be remembered, he is sitting on 99 games; and i imagine it would be important, as a player, to reach the 100 mark. just a thought.

Good news for Bakes, as with the right role (midfield tag) is very capable.

No didn't mention names as I recall, just said that 2 Saints were out for the year.
But I am happy to be corrected if I've got my wires crossed.
They would also be guilty of direct and deliberate lies if they are saying jarred knee only and expected to play if he is definitely out for season. That hasn't been the case so far they have just generally listed guys for 1 or 2 weeks when it was going to be 3 or 4.
ALso don't see any value in denying a season ending injury???

Are some St.Kilda players still suffering from the Thomas era? - i.e. the worst player management that we have seen for a while. I think Thomas absolutley torched the best list in the league and they are still paying for it. Amazing that he now sits on the sidelines sniping at the new coach, who, is doing a credible job.
The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
They can even WATCH LIVE FOOTY!

I have had the injury only recently. It mainly occurs when the ankle is severely turned.
These days they usually do not put the foot in plaster.
I just hope this does not signify a weakness in his foot structure. Special boots (are they really boots these days???) may be the answer.
Goose - done everything right in his recovery, injury related to something inherent in his body maybe nerve input problem where he's not feeling the loads put on his foot.
