Ok what are the positives.

1. we are playing crappy football and still 4:3

2. we have shown we are capable of HIGHLY disciplined football and winning (sydney)

3. we have shown we have sufficient talent to bludgeon teams down on raw native and somewhat selfish ability (v carlton)

4. we have shown champaign football that perhaps only geelong and hawthorn can match for a quarter (v footscray and geelong), sure we lost those games, but tbh thats because we took our foot off their throats, but it remains that we did play at that level for a period of time.

5. we have shown in 05, 06 and 07 our back half of the season is better

6. robert harvey is still getting > 20 effective possessions a game from 70% game time, and thus an effective contributor.

7. we are winning games without significant input from some players

8. we are approaching the midseason break which is great time to recupurate

9. we have > 30k members

10 our finances look solid in 08 again.

so while things are harsh, adn we are underperforming, we have the capacity to address these issues.

atm we are a middling team, but we have shown that we CAN be a top 2 team.

its now up to the coach and the players to accept what the can achieve together.

trading players, drafting kids etc wont address the issues, you'll just have a new generation playing shyte.

the capacity is there, its just the will to extract it.

we played crap and still took the 4 points, thats at least is something.

Thanks for giving some positives amidst all the "whoa is us" talk.
Yes we're not perfect at the moment, but we're doing better than 11 other clubs, so we shouldn't complain too much.
Let's hope the boys get a bit of confidence going forward. Eventually we'll have to click and start dominating like we can.

One day it's all got to be worth it.

I tend to agree, we are playing crappy football, the worry isn't that, it's that we aren't improving.

We've had 3 years to fix this 'crappy' football problem, we had last year with Lyon, and now a third of the way through this year, but it continues.

It looks more likely that this is our level of football, and the odd good games we play are above that level, rather than this being below our level of football.

all true and accurate observations Dan and the key now is not to panic and start eating our own. Hold the nerve and it will come. I think all supporters feel the same it's just hard not to get impatient and wont it all now.

Sorry I can't take solace from the fact that 3 of our wins came against

last years bottom 3. I'll think differently if we beat the pies and we

show some balls by taking them on.

very nice.
good to see some satisfying posetives.

ALTHOUGH...that could also match to 1-10# negatives about us, atleast the posetives are currently overruling (4:3) and getting better.

when i first saw ur post i thought u were being sarcastic...like a few posts ive witnessed who critisize the saints. good work bein optomistic.

Hey! at least were 5th, i like that. our percentage lets us down..
