Re: milney.. Ian Stewart medal
has won us three games this season.
kicked two in the last quarter of the NAB cup final, which we won by about four points.
kicked two in the last quarter against essendon to snuff out their chances.
kicked seven tonight in a team that won by 3 points.
who else is kicking goals?

I don't think Hird ever won one of them.

All posters are equal, but some posters are more equal than others.

Good work Milne.....Didn't know who won it until I saw that medal around your neck
*There wasn't a presentation of anything...no announcement at the ground.

Milne's seven goals last night takes him to 289 and he leapfrogs George Young and Nicky Winmar into P9 on the all-time list of goals kicked for the Saints.
He's now eyeing off the 300 mark and those players just ahead of him:
Barry Breen 308
Allan Davis 308
Cowboy Neale 301
Spider Everitt 299

I only caught the third quarter and then the last. I am looking forward to looking at the replay.
I can't see every game and it's mostly on the TV (though I do get to Melbourne for a couple of games each year).
However I make this observation and wonder if it is easily contradicted by you who are closer to the action than Darwin.
I don't think I have seen Milney as confident nor demanding of the ball as a forward since his night out of 11 against the Lions. He seemed to present really well last night and play with amazing confidence in his own ability to gain the ball and do something constructive with it. I'm not sure if the G-Train's present struggle, Kosi's run in the ruck and/or Roo going off inspired him to take forward line leadership but I thought his whole attitude to the need and his role was transformed last night.
Am I reading too much into it? I thought he honestly showed signs of greatness at a l;evel he has struggled to hit consistently for quite some time. I know footy is a 'head' game and players thrive on self-belief all the time. It just looked like Milney had it all together last night.
For goodness sake I'm glad someone did.
Onya Milney you were fantastic from what I saw!

Yeah, I saw that too Hawkesbury Saint.
For a guy who is so regularly run down here, I think he has a strong leadership ethic.
I think he might have put his hand up for the leadership group a few seasons ago.
I am a firm believer in leading by example on the field - Milney did that last night.
