The Raw Stats
Was looking through champion data points system used for super coach and came across something very disturbing.
It's obvious to all us Saints fans that Nick Dalsanto has had a quiet start to the season by his standars and is getting tagged left right and centre but over the 6 rounds He's been our 4th most effective player now that's a worrying sign.
Top 10 is
Lenny Hayes 648
Leigh Montagna 639
Nick Riewoldt 605
Nick Dalsanto 602
Sam Fisher 564
Luke Ball 557
Jason Gram 475
Justin Koschitzke 459
Robert Harvey 437
Xavier Clarke 431
Obviously Dal's effectiveness has kept him right up there but that list is a bit of a worry if u ask me.

I think what you need to take into account that with Dal is that he should be an elite player for us.
This years form had not been elite, but by AFL standards it has still been ok...so hence his points gathering is also at an ok level..
However we need Dal to be raking in even more points...
...or more correctly we need him doing more damage that he has done so far this year on the football field.
Now this is not just Dal...his teama mates need to block etc better for him too.
Gardi back in the ruck will help.

Yep, the midfield fell down within minutes of Kingy's injury ... "IF" ...we can keep an A-grade ruckman on the field GT might have to eat his words re RL gameplan ... it seems fragile without a centre advantage so I guess that's why RL has been going out of his way to recruit quality ruckmen I would think.saintsRrising wrote:

But quality ruckmen don't grow on trees and they are injury prone, not only because of the contact but also because their legs carry an extraordinary amount of weight for the bone/joint sizes/structure.
yes, Dr Peanut
So you think our style of footy was good in the first 5 rounds when we had an A grade ( B IMO) ruckmen. The Peanut wrote:Yep, the midfield fell down within minutes of Kingy's injury ... My memory isn't perfect but I was referring to the game that Kingy was injured in.plugger66 wrote:So you think our style of footy was good in the first 5 rounds when we had an A grade ( B IMO) ruckmen. The Peanut wrote:Yep, the midfield fell down within minutes of Kingy's injury ... Re: The Raw Stats
I think if you look at previous years for the same time, you'll find his numbers are disturbingly low, for all the reasons sighted in the first 6 rounds... Nick Dal Santo is consistently one of the best scorers under the champion data ratings system because of his high effectiveness and contested posession. For him to drop to 4th on the Saints is huge, as of all our players, only Reiwoldt would be expected to keep pace since Hayes did his knee.LENNY LEADS THE WAY wrote:Was looking through champion data points system used for super coach and came across something very disturbing.

Obviously Dal's effectiveness has kept him right up there but that list is a bit of a worry if u ask me.
Over the last 5 seasons his average has been: 108 (2003), 104 (2004), 124 (2005), 117 (2006) and 116 (2007).
Similarly, Nick Reiwoldt's average is down. Sam Fisher's is down...
Hayes is up on 2007, but down on years prior to that.
Not exactly a surprising trend given what we see on the field.
