Last Chance Ross

Post: # 557459Post LENNY LEADS THE WAY »

I would like to apologise for some of my comments directed at Ross Lyon on saturday night after the loss.

I was frustrated and angry and shouldn't be so quick to judge after a loss.

Looking at things clearly we're 3 and 3 and still well and truly in the hunt and it's time to back Ross the Boss.

I say for all u Ross haters lets get behind him between now and saturday and really back and support his judgement.

Now c'mon Ross make me proud

we should score a minimum of 125 points against the Tigers

anything less should be unacceptable

I have been a touch hasty as well, BUT Im still f****** angry about it, nearly as much as Sat. night.

And Im FAR from convinved, and win against richmond playing attacking footy would be nice, but still a fair way to go to win me back Ross.

A win playing that shitful style of footy, and the win will be totally irrelevant.

A loss, ...lets not go there. Yet.

to allay some supporters fears i think we have to demolish a top 4 team by 5+ goals without the usual fade outs for a quarter we have become accustomed too

just win...il'l be happy with just a win...

Whilst I understand the fears of people on here regarding the way we are playing it wasn't that long ago Hawthorn, Geelong where playing terrible football also.

Have a look at the teams below us.

Freo - New coach
Melb - New coach
Carl - New coach
Ess - New coach
WCE - lost 2 star players
Rich - rebuilding for years
Port - hitting some form

The teams that are successful, and above us at the moment, are the ones have had a coach there for long term, been able to imprint the game plan on them to the point they could do it in their sleep and improved their skills by foot beyond anyone else in the comp. Think Geelong, Hawthorn, Dogs and Adelaide. All were criticized at some stage and their coach under pressure. With the expansion teams coming I don't think it is worth going in to rebuild and restructure mode as it will take much longer than it had previously

Anyways just my thoughts

After reading the RealFooty article on Ross, its clear that it was the player's fault, not his. The players were not adhering to the game plan. So really, we should be blaming them. Why they are not following Ross though is anyone's guess...

So the players not following what the coach says is the players fault. Surely they should be dropped if that is the case. We are dropping on average one player a week.

If players do not follow the coaches instructions it is the coaches fault as he is not getting his message through.

That wasn't the problem at all. The problem was they were'nt following the plan! They were not doing what they had been trained to do all week. Has nothing to do with the message not getting through, they have training all week, runners and telephones at the game, plus the lectures at quater time/halftime etc. Don't see how the message could not get through, the players just had trouble implementing it. If it was as you say, then any coach could just blame it on that and keep his job.

Well palyers who don't follow the game plan are obviously useless and are a liability to the team rather than a contributor. Guess it depends if it was a consistant thing or not, if Port was a one-off, then forgive and move on and learn from it. If this has been happening all year, then yeah, after 6 rounds, people have to be dropped.

As for dropping one player a week, we have had a few injuries and its quite clear that we are selecting players on form and contribution. Be great to finally see NO CHANGES against the team sheet, I just don't thin k we are in position to that until we are a) have no injures b) have found a viable final 22 formula.
