Dropping Dal Santo....
Can the moronic St Kilda fans among us, (yes there are a lot, but you all know who you are) STOP calling for Dal Santo to play for Casey.
Is that not the stupidest, most ill-informed statement or view to make. Why don't we just do the opposition a favor. Preventing them from having to worry about some of our best players each week.
There is a reason the best tagger goes to Dal Santo.
The poor first half is enough, without IDIOTS calling for stupid actions.
Please realistically think about the thoughts of the opposition coach on a Thursday night when he reads that Dal Santo has been omitted. It would be laughter, and absolute bemusement. We would look like a joke.
Grow up.

Yeah definitely keep Dal in the side. Otherwise Lenny will get the best tag and then we'd be in real trouble - he's our only effective midfielder. Of course it is hard for Dal getting tagged heavily but the problem lies in the fact that his direct opponent is allowed to be so dominant. That's why supporters get disappointed with Dal - not because he has been tagged heavily and kept out of the game but because he let's his opponent rack up the possessions due to a lack of workrate.

No take the rose coloured glasses off for just one minute...If he is so good of a player as we make him out to be then why is it that he struggles to combat a tagger! Not only that but on the occassions that he gets beaten he gets flogged! Kane had 30 possies, if Dal was so good then why the hell couldnt he stop worrying about getting a touch himself and try stop Kane from getting the ball!

Kane Cornes as 33 possessions while tagging Dal Santo. If Dal Santo is going to produce absolutely nothing, the least he can do it try to stop his direct opponent form picking up 30 touches.

Here's my theory on why the ling's cornes of the world get so many possesions on Dal.
They play such a hard tag on him and are always in his face when they break into space Dal is just happy to get a minute on his own and refuses to follow them.
U can't drop Dal my theory turn Dal into a tagger teacher him the other side of the game.
Thoughts?

Exactly! Once again, Dal does get tagged heavily but he needs to do something to stop his player. Be accountable himself!Buckets wrote:Spinner wrote:Can the moronic St Kilda fans among us, (yes there are a lot, but you all know who you are) STOP calling for Dal Santo to play for Casey.

Kane is tagging Dal, not the other way around
if we played bold, attacking football, then Kane wouldn't be able to afford to run off Dal and get 30 possessions
when he KNOWS we are not gonna hurt him on the rebound, he can afford to run aroiund getting kicks

I think thats a great point - he struggkes defensively in the middle when sat on so why not let him create? and you know he can spot up a player and Geelong, for example, would hate to see Ling dragged deep in defence...they like him getting his 1 or 2 cheap ones a games...Life Long Saint wrote:Play him in the forward line the minute he is tagged. We've got to find some way to use Dal more effectively. Tagger maybe. Deep forward perhaps. Even carrying the drinks would be an improvement. He's got exquisite skills and superb vision, but that counts for precious little if you don't touch the footy.

Yeah agree, sorry didn't mean it to come out like that. Was trying to make the point that Lenny is our best midfielder and we definitely wouldn't want him to cop a heavy tag. Let the opposition think Dal is our premier midfielder (because he certainly is not!)mad saint guy wrote:Heavy tags never bothered Lenny in 04-06.devil saint wrote:Yeah definitely keep Dal in the side. I for one havn't seen Lenny play a half decent game against Sydney.
Lenny hasn't had half the tags that Dal has experienced. Poor comment.

1 - Stop Dal Santo getting the ball.
2 - Get the ball.
Do you know how hard it actually is to play within the midfield, against a player whose sole objective is to stop you.
Ever wondered why probably the fringe players of each team get tagging role and play mostly defensively?
Its because it requires so little talent. To stop a bloke getting it. Rather than getting it yourself. Solely just running with the same bloke, everywhere. You don't have to worry about opposition players, the bounce of the ball, tap outs, creating space, leading...WHY?
Because your main objective is to STOP. A job given to the worst of midfielders.
Now give that job to a decent midfielder, K Cornes.
He may have had 33 possessions, but in no way where they all quality possessions indicative of his true game. Why, because he was tagging.
Grow up and understand the fundamentals of logic. The best players will always struggle with a tight tight tag. Especially against quality players, sacrificing their own game to stop yours.

Making excuses for Dal Santo is a joke. He was pathetic....I'm probably about .238 at the moment and I would of given more to the club tonight. Dal Santo is copping a bath tonight, but it's deserved. Time for him to step back, look at his white boots, and ask himself if he's any better than a joke at the moment. The answer would be no,but dam it,he has about 15 pathetic mates.
